Can anyone enlighten me about this line of tractors. Very good looking and seemingly well built. My local dealer (Fram Trac) is selling Fram Trac w/no warrenty due to recievership. They have about 4 cub/yanmar inventory. I didnt know of a partnership, buy out, merger between cub and yanmar. I would like to buy a tractor locally so any info will be appreciated. Thanks. Dan

Hey Chief, I am indeed still thinking about that trip. In fact we were talking about it again just the other day, although the reason for the trip has changed.

I'm still debating whether to drive or fly, but need to get down to Lexington to look and likely buy some parts.

I'd guess you'd expose the linkage from the control that puts it into reverse, and follow it back, looking for a defective connection. A service manual for it might help. Good luck.

With a hydro machine you are pretty much required to run a constant rpm to function efficiently. On a gearshift tractor I agree with Vince to vary the rpms as required for loader or other work. In some cases you must maintain rpms constant with pto driven equipment with any tractor.

I think you would be happy with a 5000 series and a JD 48 backhoe. I have this combo and mine digs better than I expected it to. Hardwood is dead on above- The first few times I took it off it took about 30 minutes to an hour getting it back on. Now it's about ten minutes depending on what I have to take off. Biggest pain is switching seats- but youre going to get that with any combo.

I believe the 30000 nunmber is a typo.

If you need 60 lb N, 30 lb phosphate, and 120 lb potash. If you used 10-28-28 you would need:

600 lbs per acre to get the nitrogen.

Only about 107 lbs per acre to get the phosphate.

Only about 429 lbs per acre to get the potash.

If the 60 units of nitrogen are all you need and you will apply a late application you need to reduce it here. A lot depends on the fertlizer you are able to buy. If bulk many places mix it and can do a custom mixed ratio. If that is possible they can meet you needs better balance than the 10-28-28. If bagged is what you are buying your options will be limited.

Kangroo, if you are only planting 2 - 3 acres this year, that is all you should fertlize. If that is all you need fertlizer on, if you have a spreader to use with your tractor do it yourself. They will have to charge you extra for this little load as it will be less than a ton. You probably could buy a spreader for $400 to $500.

If you will be putting out 3 acres with a tractor and spreader you will cover it in like 30 minutes. If you are needing no more fertlizer than for 3 acres price it like at Wal Mart and large home supply stores. If there is a tax benefit to buying farm supplies there take that into consideration but I have found for less than a ton they can often beat the ag dealer. They often will use fertlizer to bring in the flower buyer so keep price low. Also can be good place for bagged nitrogen for same reason. Does not hold true every year.

On the nitrogen, bagged here you find two ratios, price all raios and then figure the unit price. I find the highest ratio has been my best price almost always. Same with fertlizer. Shipping of filler cost the same. kt

greg it took some looking but i found a filter 25 microns with 20 gpm spin on type mount. i have not had dry weather to use it very long but i have noticed a great improvement in the lift already. i will let you know if anything develops in the future.

Both brands are good solid tractors, and will have a good dealership network for years to come for your parts and service needs. I doubt there is a dime's worth of difference in the reliability and ability's of either brand. In the long term the Kubota will probably have a better resale value. As has been mentioned the dealership is the most important part of buying and enjoying your tractor. The cheapest dealer isn't always the best dealer, it is a good service department, friendly attitude, and a readily available supply of parts you may need that is far more important then brand. As much as I hate to say it, most John Deere dealer repair facilities are not equipped with folks properly trained to deal with the electrical issues on the E-Gator.

Contact you local golf pro shop and ask for a reference to a good independent electric golf cart repair technician.

The controller is the problem, and it can generally be rebuilt or exchanged for around $400. Double that if you need someone else to take it out and reinstall the thing. A good 20 minute job for anyone with a few tools.

I have a 2007 JD 2305 with 60 hours. While mowing the other day the lever to switch from 2 WD to 4WD started dropping into the 4WD position by itself. Have it a dealer right now but want to know if anyone else with 2305 or 2210 has had this problem. <br>

The manufacturer is likely immaterial since if it wasn't sold commercially here, there's little chance anybody will have parts for it either.

However, all is not lost, it is quite common to use 'off the shelf' parts in these things. If you take the part needed to a good-sized Ag dealer they can likely set you up with something that will work.

If you have road traffic and it is legal, do put up a sign. A simple sign seems to work good for such. There are also the classified local papers. kt
