Ken.. This sounds like one of two things to me,

1)a DESIGN issue... where the CAFE standards dictate extreme aerodynamic styling to the point where she cannot see around the body curves. If so there just aren't many "square" cars built these days.

OR

2) A perception issue. Does she wear glasses? Does she need glasses? Is there an undiagnosed astigmatism? Is there a medication involved that sez "don't operate machinery"? Do the mini-collisions always happen at the same time of day... IE blood sugar drop?

OK, yes that's right, a belt-driven starter is a sure sign it's also a generator.

Note I said 'generator' not alternator. It is a simple thing to do, any motor when spun will give you back some power when wired correctly.

You should have 3 wires coming off of it. A single wire at one terminal, and 2 on the other, the single wire is the "field" wire, we'll call 'F' here, and the other two are "armature" wires. We'll call them 'A1' & 'A2' here.

Now the way it works is, when you step on the pedal (or hit the key) you connect making a complete circuit in 'A1' between a 12volt battery and the motor and 'F' causing the motor to spin starting the engine. Once the starter solenoid is out of the circuit 'A1' (between motor & battery directly) once again becomes an open circuit, leaving only 'F' & 'A2' (which runs to the regulator) intact, and since the motor is still spinning (and now a generator) because it's belted to the engine, the battery should charge.

In your case though something went south. Check first that you have power between the two terminals of the starter / generator while the engine is running. I bet you will, they rarely go. Now check all connections to see if there is corrosion messing things up, a generator has a very feeble output, it doesn't take much. If everything is clean and making a solid contact, you need a new regulator.

LOL I only wish i had your snow to push. We never get much here in NC we did get a little sleet and snow this week and maybe some more tomorrow. I am like a school kid wanting snow. I have had mine two years now and never used it for snow !!!!

I've got a couple of new Ferris Mowers (34hp Cat diesels with 4 wheel suspension) that cut quite nicely at 12 mph.

I sure wouldn't want to try it with a CUT though. :(

DRankin is right, as usual, put it in low unless you are just driving around. I rarely use low range on my 'boat unless I'm doing some real grunt work, and high is strictly for trucking around the neighbourhood (which I do a lot of) so the machine usually spends it's time quite happily in mid-range doing an assortment of tasks.

Just remember that the gal that was recently killed hiking in Georgia by Mr. Hilton had a large dog and some martial arts belt. The news said a "Blue Belt". I'm not into that stuff so don't know if that is correct nor what level of skill it took. The news also indicated that she was alive for several days before she was killed.

I am needing to purchase a repair, parts and operators manual for this tractor. I have seen places that sell the parts manual, but I would like to purchase more than just the parts. I emailed Jensales, but they did not have anything I could use.<br>
Thanks for any help you can provide. I like the tractor, but it is to difficult to find needed items for it.

On our 345's I just put my finger under the blade switch when I back up and they keep running, it has gotten to be such a natural motion that I don't even realize I do it anymore. I did consider bypassing the switch but we have two grandkids, ( 11 and 13 ), who spend a lot of the summer with us and like to mow, so for that reason I leave all the safety switch3es hooked up. I lived off Mission Blvd, pretty close to what was then called Jack Kemp stadium in the mid-70s. I too was please to see San Diego get this far into the play-offs this year.

Having lived in KY for the last 13 years has swayed my allegiance more toward closer teams. Even though Indianapolis was eliminated last weekend, at least one of the Manning brothers is still in the hunt. I remember occasionally watching their dad (Archie Manning) play for the Saints back in the day.

I stopped at the local TSC and they only stock the large (1/2 ") dust covers. Guess if I want the little ones on my my B7610 I'll have to take the longer trip to a dealer.<br>

I guess they don't sell many of them as the markup must be lie 500% as they charge about $3 per pack of two males or two females by color.
