EW; Maybe I'm just a bit too thick in the shell to understand what you are up to but. Can't you determine from which way the cylinder is moving which end the flow is going in to make it either lengthen or contract? I know sometimes when a half dozen hoses go inside a hoe boom it can be hard to determine which one comes out the other end that you are looking for too. "Splain yerself a bit", (That's Iowegan talk.) Frank.

Well after spending a couple of hours yesterday afternoon at a dealer looking up different models, we were pretty sure it was an aftermarket cap/gage. And last night I did searches and found a place, Kelch, that makes the caps/gages. So I will just have to order one from them. But at least I know for sure. Thanks...

I looked at the second link on eBay. You realize they are made of 2x2" tubing, not even soild stock. And they give no hint to the type of material or even the wall thickness. I have a skid steer pallet fork attachment for my skid steer. I know there is a lot of side-to-side play, or forces (swinging) that come into play with forks that long and carrying a load. Those eBay clamp on's don't appear to have any generous bucket lip to prevent swinging. Yes there are chains and binders but how tight do you have to get them to prevent them from swinging?

Try left hand drill bits either turns the screw out or drills offthe head so you can pull the board off the screw. Grab whats left with vise grips.

There's a whole lot of disparity between message number #1 and message #3 under this topic.

In msg #1, you wrote, "The starter & selenoid work."

In msg #3, you wrote, "I jump 12v to it and the starter still wont turn. This is what I'm confused about. I can't jump the selenoid to start it."

This changes everything.

Let's start over. I'll do my best to help solve this problem, provided the information I have is accurate.

1. Does your solenoid engage when you put 12vdc to it?

I'm glad you found it. I swear, Gators were not meant to be worked on- but in your case it sounds like you kind of lucked out. My old 6 wheeler had an electric powered dump bed which sometimes required me to revove the bed to get to the engine if the problem I was having was electrical!

I should have said that it also known as a sealed (gel) lead acid battery. Years ago in my offroading days a "gel cell battery" was actually a battery made like a capacitor-- several spirally wound cells encapsulated in a sealed container; no lead, no acid per se. <br>

When doing the finish cleanup work on some ponds I was doing, the walls were so vertical that the acid in the wet cell battery was draining out. So I put a "gel cell" on my CUT. Optima is one maker. They're sold on eBay and at local autosupplys.<br>

EDIT: Guess what guys I'm wrong. The Optima is NOT a gell (gel) cell, and it DOES have lead only it's in thin sheets in the spiral. The electrolyte is a paste. As was mentioned before these are called AGM batteries (absorbed glass mat)

Sporting a Yanmar logo, your response is understandable. I too had a US-spec'd Yanmar - a sturdy old late 70s vintage YM240. Almost bulletproof, but I got rid of it when finding parts became a problem (following the demise of the Yanmar dealership network). <br>

All of which should be taken with a BAG of salt, not just a pinch.

Loader spec.'s, amongst others, are usually 'rated' based on theoretical calculations which are again in turn made based on bench tests, NOT 'real world' tests.

They bench test the engine as being 'x' horsepower, then multiply that peak horsepower by the pump spec's, then apply that result to a calculation of the loaders geometry and hydraulics and come up with a number.

I know of several people who learned that the hard way.

have a 4 yard tow behind dump trailer and the wireing plug that attaches to the tractor allways gives me a hard time. I need to cock it at an angle to get the lights to work. I took that apart this AM and found loose lugs and wires....

Put it back togather and now my hazards work. At least for now.

You've got a very nice machine. Congratulations!

There were different sounds to get accustomed to with every tractor I've owned. It takes a while to familiarize myself with the sounds a new tractor makes. Each one is different, and I'm assuming that a cab will change the sounds a bit more than usual.

I vaguely remember the first time I drove my uncle's IH 1066 with a hydro transmission and a cab. (1974?) It sure sounded strange, compared to the old Minneapolis "U" I was operating before that.

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with your tractor. It just takes time to get acquainted. Have fun!

I founs it - thanks for all of your help but my wife may have provided the best help. I found in my Christmas stocking this year something that probably helped me the most - a pair of reading glasses. I had probably been pushing this off too long.

Heh. Just came home from a "real" farmer friend of ours house. I just have to laugh as he and his brothers run a huge dairy/cheese making operation and he's in charge of some pretty big equipment. And I'm fretting about my little 20hp tractor. :) He jokes about how his father, after driving one of their top-o-the-line tractors, said he'd have to get a better car. ;)

Adamc44; My neighbor had a 410 that got in bad shape. Some of the hydraulic parts are obsolete and it had enough other ailments tnat he parked it out back, I think he has since sold it to a junkyard. If I remember correctly they had some sort of rotary hydraulic swing cylinder on the boom that was a problem.
