Thanks, Joel and Hardwood. It is a 101 class to me. Learn a lot from you people here. Basiclly I try to grow small vegetables, they need bed but not a high one. 2-3" is enough. 3 rows with a 12" space normally. So many "unusal" requirements here. Muck land,4wd, narrow space between the rows, light weigt <4000lb, wide front tread >52", 28" rear tire, 50HP 44pto, QA HD fel, higher ground clearance >15", price <22K. So far looks only Kubota MX5000 fit. Just want to check any other brand has model very close it?

Noticed some posts about snow blowers already. So maybe it is time to ask a question or two about a cab for the XVU Gator with the roll bar. Does anyone have one with a factory cab? If so can they be field installed or are they factory installed only? Are they noisy? Who else makes one? Anyone here built one? Thanks. Frank.

I lived in Wisconsin for two years, near Sparta. A good friend of mine had a few acres south of there, in the hills. His land, like yours, was absolutely covered with trees and other vegetation. He used a Befco mower on his tractor. A model that has a stump jumper built in is almost a necessity for you.

You might want to take a look at the Befco Stump Jumper model RMD260, or the RMD272.

The 260 is a 5 foot model (60"), designed for tractors from 40 to 80 horsepower. The RMD272 is the 6ft. model (72"), designed to be used on the same size tractors. Either model will work fine on your TC45.

I prefer the larger model, simply because the blade tip speed is so much greater. With two blades, each 1/2 inch thick and 4 inches long, moving at over 15,700 feet per minute -- you'll have no problem mowing down saplings 2 inches in diameter.

I also prefer the laminated rear wheels on these mowers. These wheels will last nearly a lifetime. They are all but bulletproof.

When you come up against an obstacle the Befco mower won't handle, the blades simply swing out of the way, rather than killing your tractor. Additionally, the drive-line on the Befco is protected with a slip clutch, which will squeal like all hell when your mower stops turning, but it will protect both your mower and your tractor.

No matter which make or model you opt for, I highly suggest that you focus on something that has these short, swinging blades. You can't go wrong with either of these mowers when facing the conditions you describe.

Stay away from any of the mowers that have just one, long, straight blade. Such mowers are not meant for handling these tough conditions.......and they can be very dangerous when the blades break.

Since you listed two PTO speeds (540/1000), you have what Jinma calls the Double Speed gearbox. It takes PTO shaft #160.37.158. PTO shaft #160.37.158-2 is for a different gear box (single speed). Your mechanic friend probably's never seen one, cuz I think only 2-speeds are brought into the US. <br>

Anyway, there's no crown nut for the 2-speed PTO shaft. As far as I know, it's just held in place with a circlip. And I'm pretty sure you have to remove the hydraulic sump to get to it. <br>

I believe if you contact SSB Tractor, they'll be able to provide you with the proper part numbers.

Does anyone know the approximate cost of a front mounted Kubota snow blower for my L3830? What is the proper size for my tractor? Does the front mounted snow blower require the mid pto and what is the estimated cost to install the mid pto?

I'll bet your friendly dealer can answer these questions.

The four blade would be better and if you get to where they are cupped they throw it the best.

It seems I have to use the turning brake feature every few months. Most of my work is in dense woods and at times the tractor ends up sitting between two trees, one in front and one behind, without enough room to turn the wheels to get out. It's a mystery how that happens but the turning brakes are a lifesaver when it does.

Only the dumb ones seem to have a hard time understanding my position.......of course, their numbers are great, so I do a lot of explaining.

Woo, hoo. I got the 790 and it DOES, in fact, have the live PTO option with dual stage clutch! Whew! Quite a relief. FYI, the literature that I got with it says the 2WD is transmisison-driven and the 4WD is continuous live.

If you live in a place in which you have a lot of obstacles to blow around, or a very small area to blow out, it might be better to have a smaller unit, as it makes things a bit easier to see around, turn, etc.

I prefer to put my blower on the 3-point hitch, going in reverse. It's the fastest way to mount and remove the blower, and it's better than having to drive through the drifts before being able to blow them out.

If I made my living blowing snow for other people, I'd clearly go with the front-mount blower.

Blowers are preferred over blades here in the Dakotas, simply because blades create piles of snow which cause huge drifts to form behind them when the wind blows.....and the wind always blows. Anything that sticks up into the air, even a few inches, will cause a drift to form behind it. Blowers prevent this problem.....or at least reduce it to a great degree.

The brand isn't necessarily important. I prefer a heavy blower that won't bump and bounce around. The heavier, the better. Put it in gear and get the snow out of the yard.....pronto. If your tractor will handle the bigger double-auger units, go with one.

You might want to invest in a set of chains for your tractor. This will help you get the traction you need to push your way through the hard stuff, if you have any. In those cases where I lose traction, I use my loader to help push. I rotate the bucket down (dump) and after digging it into the packed snow, I rotate back to the level position. This provides a tremendous amount of push.....and this is why I prefer to have a blower mounted on the rear.....the loader is very useful.

If you have a hydro tractor, you can easily go with a slightly bigger unit, as ground speed is one of the most limiting factors when selecting a blower.

The snow blade with power angle and a rubber edge was 1,985.00 complete. The cost for the quick connect somehow got buried in the tractor cost and I don't recall that number. The quick connect allows me to drive up to either the loader bucket or snow plow and curl/lift the loader to engage it then manually lift 2 arms to lock in place.
I'll let you know what it does in snow when we get some.
It will be a lot easier than the rear manual blade I've been using, my chiropractor agrees.
