Thank you guys. I had to look at picture and read Murf's description to fully understand what is done. Does that make much difference?

Boy if you want cartoons, read the warning decals in the manual. Sad, but they are there because somebody has done that.

Something is missing from this equation.

Unless the tractor is equipped with position control, or the 3pth control lever is being moved, where is the fluid to keep raising the arms coming from?

All of the hydraulics for the 3pth are internal, there is nothing to examine without some degree of surgery.

It does however sound like fluid is bypassing a seal in at least one place, the cylinder or valve, causing the settling, and also in the lift control circuit, causing the lift back up.

If it is the 3pth control valve, it would explain both.

$Ann, we built a large volume steel pan that extended the bottom and sides out from the normal FEL bucket. Similar to what most of the manufacturers sell as a "high capacity" or "snow bucket" but at a mere fraction of the cost. We then pick through the stalls as usual with a fork, but pitch the stuff into the bucket of the tractor which stays in the aisle. Basically then just using the FEL as a ride-on, self-powered wheel barrow. Also, by not putting the tractor into the stalls, the bedding doesn't get compacted from the weight of the machine. Just be careful to bear in mind, any kind of high capacity bucket is not nearly as robust as a 'regular' bucket is. We only use them in conjunction with a quick-tatch setup so you can easily change buckets, rather than be tempted to use the weaker large bucket inapproprately and bend it. Best of luck.$ New loader
