I finally bit the bullet and bought a new JD 430 loader for my 4300. Dealerships wanted $3500 to $4000 for the newer 300cx loaders but I managed to find a 430 new old stock loader which was the original loader spec'd for my unit for 2250. It gets "empty backhauled" from Iowa on a semi my company sends out there twice a week and I should get it by week's end. Looking forward to not having to manually fork manure and bedding around, and thought I would spread the cheer around a bit.
Cheers Ann

Congrats on the new toy, errr, I mean *tool* !!! LOL

The only thing I would caution you on is the "easy factor", with the ease of using the FEL comes the tendancy to be less selective on picking through the bedding as si done by hand, this can result in a dramatically higher consumption rate with regards to he shavings or whatever you use as bedding.

Best of luck. ....

Ann, we built a large volume steel pan that extended the bottom and sides out from the normal FEL bucket.

Similar to what most of the manufacturers sell as a "high capacity" or "snow bucket" but at a mere fraction of the cost.

We then pick through the stalls as usual with a fork, but pitch the stuff into the bucket of the tractor which stays in the aisle. Basically then just using the FEL as a ride-on, self-powered wheel barrow. Also, by not putting the tractor into the stalls, the bedding doesn't get compacted from the weight of the machine.

Just be careful to bear in mind, any kind of high capacity bucket is not nearly as robust as a 'regular' bucket is. We only use them in conjunction with a quick-tatch setup so you can easily change buckets, rather than be tempted to use the weaker large bucket inapproprately and bend it.

Best of luck. ....

Ahhh... I have the 430 on my 4310 and I love it. So nice, so easy to haul stuff. So easy to go on and off the tractor. Ah, fond memories...

Congrats! You'll love it! ....

Ann, they are a neat unit. I've had a 430 that came with the first 4300 tractor I bought. I've since added a 4 in 1 bucket for it, and so far no problems. I don't like to use it more than a big half day without greasing it especialy the lower bucket pivots just to keep the dirt pushed out of them. Just as the biggest bulldozer has it's limits so does your new loader, give it good care and it will last you a long time. Enjoy you new machine. Frank. ....
