When you do your research on the stoves, The more water capacity the better, the stove i have takes 385 gal. because the fire box has heat transfer to water on all sides of it. At the back of the fire box there is a heat baffle that comes half way down that the smoke and not the heat has to go down and under and back up and out the back of the box to the chimney, seems to work good, you don't see a lot of heat coming out of the chimney. I don't cram the box full either, but rather a nice bed of coals with a camp fire size stack of wood once a day.

I use a tiller once or twice a year and in the past I have followed up with diamond harrows. This year I began using an s-tine cultivator which my son modified by adding a leveller bar behind the tines which helps to level the lose soil and overall keep the riding ring more level. The bar is made from an old grader blade so it is only about 4" high, so far this works fine with any excess dirt going over the blade. We designed it so we can adjust the blade up or down.

This new set up appears to work very well at keeping the riding ring level. It also controls the depth the tines go in (I set it at 4"). We use the s-tine cultivator during the riding season and will likely only use the tiller in the spring.

So far my wife likes the results so what more can I hope for. I may add a couple of additional tines next year to get rid of grooves.

Well, winter is in the air, and I've just finished building my 'Murf tube' for the front of my FEL. (Thanks Murf!).<br>

Now, I need to get power down my hill to run a small (300w) tank de-icer for the horses. When my excavator blasted for the water line, he left a shelf on the side of the trench for me to throw a conduit in (yet not have it at the same level or position as the water line in case we had to service either.).<br>

In this trench, I put a 1" sch 40 grey PVC running from my garage down to where I need to put an exterior outlet. My plan was to pull a 12-2 with ground and put a single outlet down there, with the GFCI protection for it in the garage so the whole run is 'protected'. The run is about 270 feet.<br>

Now, today I hooked up the shop vac, tied a small piece of baggie to a monofilimant line, and started to feed it up, as my electrican had done with the service feeder conduit (3"). <br>
<br>
The end at the house had been capped, but the end of the run that terminated outside was covered with duct tape, which had weathered and fallen off.<br>
<br>
I'm convinced I have a partial blockage at around 150' or soo (guessing by how much string I was able to feed up). I tried clearing it with compressed air, etc. I finally glued on an elbow and started flooding the run with water from a garden hose (but our water pressure is low up on the hill). The water cleared out some gravel that appears to have gotten in during assembly.<br>

Ideas for clearing it? I guess my alternative is going to be to try to measure the approximate length of the run until the string/bag hits the blockage and dig it up (which if I do, I'm going to put in an access/intermediate pull box like there should have been in the first place). <br>

IT is possible that the pressure would be to high but I doubt it. I would do a double take for a wear pattern on the shaft from the seal. I don't know how many of those tractors are in your area but the amount of repair call for those parts would demand stocking if they were common moving parts. Believe me it's a lot easier to see a smiling face as you hand over the parts then the disappointed look of someone having to wait for parts.

Ken is correct the JD lists the 3pt as 3050 lb 24" behind the lift point. The Mahindra lists it as 3525 lb, probably at the pins.<br>
I am not sure about the FEL. One is an old Deere design the other is likely an old IH. I am not sure what old model IH or Deere. The 5500 is more comparable tractor the Deere.<br>
I believe you could get a Kubota M4800 for about the same price here as the Deere. It is a more modern tractor. <br>
I would think you would want wet brakes if you are doing a lot of FEL work. The Mahindra has dry brakes.

Sounds about right, there are some different transmission options that were available but all worked well. It wold be hard to find a backhoe that might not have some movement it normally is up to the operator. Normally it doesn't cost but a couple of hours at the fab shop.

When it happens, you can fix it right or fix it again. Look at the rails for flares or weakness. Look at the shifters ball at the end to see how it fits.

Where is the serial # tag generally located? If it's been removed, where else would the # be stamped? Since I'm in S. Louisiana - post Katrina - the thought of a stolen unit or one that received flood damage did cross my mind. I did notice 2 dealer/service stickers affixed to the unit. Would these dealers be willing/able to provide info. re: service history/prior owner(s)?

The unit comes with 3 or 4 weights on the front. Will that be sufficient for running a 4' box blade and a 5' cutter? Also, I've seen brush guards on many tractors - seems to be a sensible accessory. Some are clearly improvised/home-made, others manufactured. Any recommendations for this?

Power is often a trade off for time. A larger bucket will get the hauling done faster............... A larger bucket normally comes with more horsepower. Any way you look at it the 7300 only has the reliable armstrong power steering system.

I forgot to add, if you want one, you better order it ASAP, takes about 2 weeks for their build cycle to get one built. I had mine ordered over 2 mths ago, but just got it this past friday, as they had lost the order, till I kept bugging the dealer and Curtis for status updates.

I have a bmb 5' Estate finish mower, I think the model is a b-60. The belt broke and my boys put it in the burn pile before I could get a new one. I haven't been able to find the coerrect belt size though any dealers. I seem to remember it being a B120. Does anyone know what it is?

have run into some usees for a compact tractor-<br>

as a general rule, ball park amounts, how much per hr would you guys charge for tractor work-<br>
with my mowing i have it down to charging by the minute then rounding to the nearest $5.00.<br>
i'm in sw fla, so no snow moving will likely be involved.<br>
with my old kubota L175, no fel or bh just pulling a box blade i charge 50.00 per hr. am thinking that fel and bh work is a little higher.<br>

Hello I have a Shibaura SD2200 4X4 also and have a simular problem, and can't find parts either, I would like to know if you ever solved your problem, and how? Seems alot of these people need answers like myself but no real definate answers are available, would be nice to just go to your local parts store and pick up your parts, the only place I found parts was at my local John Deere store. I know you posted a year ago but would very much like to know what you found out about our mystery tractors and part aquirements.
