Go out in the back yard where you do not have an audiance. The biggest obstical is pressure in the lines. The connectors are close together and big hands seem to be an issue, mabe its the arthritius also. Mine comes off for mowing all the time. I try to keep tractor as light as possible so the steers do not scuff up the manicured look ;-) of my yard. Actually it for clearance mowing around stuff.

The worst problem I've had so far is one of the lines bleed down while the loader was off and I could not get back under it. It was in a tight spot, I ended up dragging it out in the open where I could get beside it hook up the hoses and git it back in the air so I could get under it.

I tend to overgrease. Anything that does not have seals gets plenty. The spindles are greased each mowing along with the caster wheels and swivels. The PTO shaft is 2-3 times a year.

Grease is cheap. Spindles for the Landpride are Pricey at $195.00. Other parts are pricey and sometimes very difficult to R&R if they have not been lubed regular.

Thanks for the great information!

I think that we are pretty used to the hydro tranny so we will probably go that route. Pretty simple to operate. Plus, my understanding is that the cruise will take care of constant speed jobs. I can definately say we will not be doing any round bales but MAY do square sometime. Part of the problem is there is a shortage of folks to come and hay ones fields on a regular basis. I am used to slinging them and we have a small elevator to get them in the barn.

For logs I am quite used to chains and hooks on my bucket and most of the log work will be lifting and placing or holding in place while fastening to a cross country jump. So I think a grapple is not needed for the FEL. They are cool though, pretty gnarly.

Cab would be nice but not a necessity. It's pretty windy here so a blade will work pretty well instead of a blower.

I have never used a flail mower and understand that they can do a pretty good job on grass that is 2 feet and less and where there may be rocks. True? We grow some good rocks here. At least I always seem to find them with the rotary mower.

I am leaning towards the 4720 today with the 400xldr and either the 390 flail or the mx7 rotary cutter. price quoted was 29,775 with the FEL, cruise, loaded tires, chain hooks, bolt on blade for the bucket, delivered and full of fuel. mowers would be extra. Is that a competitive price?

5225 was too fancy for me.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I agree that the dealer really makes the difference. I also don't mind going a little bigger for the power to choose whatever implement I might want. With all the 0% financing available it seems like a no-brainer. Should have made a decision in about two weeks and will let you all know what we decide on.

I do not know the hp of the 7510 or the 7610, but I will
tell you what I have. I have an L3430 hydrostatic with
a L2174A 62 inch two stage front snow blower. My tractor
is about 35hp and it just plays with 2 or 3 foot snow.
I have a 1/4 mile driveway and it is a 'dream' with this
setup. Definately get hydrostatic though.

Scootermagee, good to see another nebraska native on the board. I grew up in the sandhills. Seems like the 2210/2305 would have plenty of guts for my landscape projects and could be my main tractor. For pushing snow, do the box blades work well, or should I buy a standard blade that can swivel? One farmer told me for pushing snow on a rock driveway, I should take a 5'or 6' pipe, cut a horizontal slit, and bolt it to the bottom of the blade to keep from digging into the rock driveway.

I began moving snow at the age of 8 with my dad's WD-45
We had chains, fluid in the tires, and a blade made so
solid it puts the stuff made today to shame.(still have it)
That tractor could literally move just about anything.
I cant see how one would move snow without skids, unless
on blacktop or concrete. I realize many(if not most people)
didnt grow up on a farm, but if an 8 year old can do this
stuff - it has to be a quick learning curve.

I am looking at purchasing a Raptor 4000H 4X4 hydrostat utility vehicle. I have read good and bad reviews concerning this manufacturer compared to the big boys - kawasaki, john deere, cub cadet, polaris, and ect.. Does anyone here have an opinion of real life use of this machine. The model I am looking at has the 25hp air cooled kohler enging, hydostat drive, bed lift, and aproximately 200 hours. It apparently is a popular unit in the mid west but I am not sure how much of a footprint they have in other parts of the country. Any advice would be appreciated I need a UTV but have a limited budget and have to shop for the best deal.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that the oil quantity listed in the manual for the transmission of my 4410 was wrong. It listed 6.8 gallons of oil for the eHydro trans. My drain pans QUICKLY alerted me to the obvious as the 8 gallon catch pan ran over! When I completed the 50 hr. break in service I ended up putting slightly over 9 gallons of Hygard back in the trans to get it back to the full mark. I suspect your 4600 maybe the same way.

Joe, I have wanted to change to a sealed battery since day one. The 421,4310, and 4410 take a BCI Group 22NF battery which has the terminal polarity reversed and a funky size battery. The Optima 51R was just the right size but does not come with the battery hold down lugs on the bottom battery wall sides. Makes for a difficult modification to make a battery hold down work in that space. If the picture and specs I have interpreted correctly; this battery will hopefully fit just right and have an extra 100 cold cranking amps over the OEM battery as well as being sealed.

Does anyone out there have any experience with overheating<br>
of the engine. I purchased this machine last fall and it<br>
seems to always overheat. I took it in and they drained<br>
all the fluid from the radiator etc. and refilled it.<br>
They said it had been filled wrong.(seems bizarre to me)<br>
It didnt help. I had another guy tell me the propeller<br>
on his machine was the problem. I am not really up on how<br>
these are made. I have always had 4 wheelers without<br>
radiators for this reason. One less thing to go wrong.<br>

I have a kubota m4900 that weights about 7500# loaded rear r4 tires and fel. everbody said sub only 3 point puts to much strain on bell housing .could braek something like in the heat of the moment when just a little more ,then you could be sorry

I'm looking for someone that has modified the blade control valve system on a Komatsu 6 way blade. I've built a 3 point hitch for the back of mine and would like to add an other center block and the linkage kit for the joystick (4 way control) By adding a second center block and reversing the linkage from inside to outside of the push-pull block I can have the left-right function control the front blade push angle. Then the push-pull control would raise and lower the 3 point hitch. I checked with the dealer here in middle GA and the only way to buy the block I need is to buy whole 3 valve assembly ($4300.00) a price of 1/3 of the dozer.<br>
If anyone knows where I can get the manufactures name and part number for the center valve block for the 6 way blade it would make this upgrade much easier.<br>

Been working on cars a long time and never heard of odbIII.

Every thing 96 and newer is ODBII. The connector is located some where under the dash in plain view. Usually on the left side.

I heard that Directv is coming out with "Home Media Center" by the end of the year. This will be their Tivo replacement.

This system is supposed to work off your home Computer Network. Making it unnecessary to have dual coax running to each location. Using the network each TV on your system will be Tivo capable from a central box.

I have a one year old Tivo from Directv, and I am going to wait on the HD (don't have a HD TV yet is one reason) as I would like to have the Tivo on all the sets(3).
