I am also not familiar with that model, but I once had an inline fuse come loose which prevented the shutoff solenoid from working. It took a while to diagnose because it only came loose, not all the way out, making it difficult to spot. After fixing the problem, I wrapped the fuseholder with electrical tape to prevent a repeat performance.

Art thank you for your reply to my Request on B7100 head gasket posting. Can you explane why you think it is the rings. Would a compression test give me a definate answer?The tractor seems to have plenty of power. If it is the rings can you recomend an addative to try before I tear the engine appart to replace the rings?

My dad made one of hardware cloth (galvanized 1/4 x 1/4" welded wire mesh used for rabbit cages) that was a 3' diameter x 12' long rotating cylinder. The input end was elecvated about a foot higher than the other end. We hand-fed compost through it, but a chute of sorts would have helped. This type of screener is called a "trommel" or "rotating drum". These are not high-volume machines but are effective. The spoils or debris are eventually rotated or tumbled out of the drum in a neat pile. The high-voulme machines you see on construction sites may be a sifter or shaker type, which use a conveyor to shred or pull apart soil in small amounts as it goes up a conveyor. Then it goes drops through 4-5 vibrating "screens" or sets of parallel wires that form a screen which sift out the soil and debris. This type of screener typically has topsoil that looks like little balls from the rolling action of the conveyor and the wire screens.

Still going back and forth on this tractor. I've looked on line at power steering kits, but I'm wondering it I'd need a pump since I'd have the hydraulic pump on the front for the loader. Could this be tapped into?

You didn't say if it's gear-drive or HST. My guess if it's HST it could be nearly empty of hydraulic fluid. If that is the case, the pump is starving for fluid which makes it worse when hitting a bump (if the loader is up that will use up fluid volume too). You'll wipe out the drive pump in no time (ask me how I know), and possibly damage the HST motor too. If it's gear---I dunno---might be a bad ring-and-pinion set up. If it's 4x4 be sure the selector lever is in the correct position---might be between modes.

Hey there, I am still looking for a full sized how. I am fussy about options and insist on a 4 in 1 bucket with forks, 4x4 and extendo. there are a bunch of cases for sale lately that fit that bill. do any of the case hoes have real hoe controls or are they all these 4 lever turds.

The low pressure thing--I have noticed that the ride quality will be very bouncy with low pressure, especially in the rears.<br>

A trick I use to mount equipment tires is a few shots of starting fluid with an air line attached to the tire stem (it whips up the ether vapor inside the tire)---stand back, light a match quickly and toss it near the bead (where the air/ether mixture is escaping). Be prepared for a loud but controlled explosion! Haven't had a tire yet this didn't work on.

Ken, Bill, Oneace - thanks for you comments. The landscape pro's doing the scotch broom/slash clearing had a few farmers in the bunch (formerly of Indiana and one fellow currently in McMinnville) and some choice comments, as they were looking at the land I would be working. Unanimous - R1s, more power. The 40DA with R1s will be showing up late next week! I have to say, BrokenArrow's love of his TC40 was also a motivator. Thanks all.

Hi, I have owned My YM3000 for about five years. It is a 1977 model. Rated at 34 hp. It has been a great tractor with just the most basic maintanence needed. I also have a Bushhog brand loader mounted. I have used the pto, loader and three point in many tough situations over the years as I clear land building this little farm in SC. The only thing I might change if I ever upgrade would be to have 4 wheel drive. The loader adds much weight to the front end,which may at times cause the rear to get a little light without a ballast. I usually just hang the box blad back there to do heavy loader work. have had good luck with this tractor. Tony

The other possibility is that the ROPS has been bent possibly by running into something with it or the machine may have been rolld in the past. Fairly unlikely with the exception of Ken's experience which is not what I would call a roll but a very unusual occurance.

I'm still a tractor greenhorn. Got a brand new TC45 to do work, gardening, trenching, etc on the property. It has a front loader bucket and backhoe attached. Just got delivery yesterday and tried it for the first time to move a small amount of dirt with the front loader. Immediately noticed a terrible shuddering, shaking and jerking when in forward or reverse, low or high speed, particularly going over a SMALL bump or SMALL grade. The transmission(?)just does not want to move the tractor and I have to push harder to move at all. Afraid to use it that way, might cause damage! No other problems with hydraulics, etc. Have to call the dealer next week but in the meantime would like to know if anyone can think of something I missed. (The foot brakes are off of course). Followed all use procedures that I know of.<br>

Art is right. It is the same tractor as the 26 same engine trans ect. The 26 has the fuel boosted a little bit. All dealers and CNH are liquidating the TC 24 and the DX24 to clear out stock. Now would be the best time to buy one.

WOW!!!! A VERY interesting and wide ranging thread. Murf, I never realized you had ties to Z land and South Africa. I have some VERY strong, heart felt, and idealistic feelings and thoughts about this issue. I will just leave it at "don't get me started!" ;O) <br>

I am probably one of our nation's strongest proponents for private property rights. Although the USA is probably the strongest private property rights oriented place in the world; it has drifted FAR from its roots in the Declaration of independence, Preamble to the Unitied States Constitution, and the United States Constitution its self to say the LEAST. <br>

I make the FEABLE attempt to exercise ownership over more than a "few acres" of land. I have come to find out the reality that although the deeds to this land are in mine and my family's name and we pay the property taxes along with the responsibilities of ownership.................... we do not in fact in the final analysis actually own the land. The state and county by levying a property tax has forced forced upon us literally at gun point to our heads a partner ownership of this land. Don't believe me.................... just try refusing to pay your property taxes and watch how fast an an armed team of law enforcement folks come out to your home and post documents seizing ownership from you. Or if you inherit land from a parent; watch how fast "Big Brother" gets to the front of the line with his hand out to force you to pay the inheritance tax with the gun held to your head with the other hand. Don't have the money to pay the upto 45% tax?????? No problem......."Big Brother" will gladly send out the JBT's to seize your family land at gun point and auction it off for you, steal what they want and leave you the remainder if there is any left. Once the land goes up for auction, it is no longer just inheritance tax.......now you may incur capital gains taxes, closing costs, lawyer fees, etc. etc. <br>

I love living on such a large piece of land but I find that I am forced literally to constantly keep an eye and patrol it to keep poachers, trespassers, pot growers, methamphetamine manufacturers, ATV riders, and others off of my land. My fences, fence posts, and gates have been damaged and stolen. I have caught red handed local folks stealing creek gravel with dual axle commercial dump trucks and back hoes. Local law enforcement is TOTALLY useless in this respect and I must do it myself. I will just say that I am armed as well or better armed than the folks who used to "own" the farms in Rodesia and South Africa. During hunting season I wear body armor out of fear of being shot while walking and posting my property lines. Not whinning......... just making known the actual REAL costs of ownership of land. <br>

I love the land as well as have a GREAT respect for it, the area, and enjoy the relationships I have with my neighbors, and I walked into to this understanding the responsibilities of owning land in this country. It is not what most folks think it is at first glance and you should take this into consideration before buying land in this manor.<br>

Getting back to the original theme of the thread; there IS still land out there to be had for reasonable prices but you have to look for it and make sacrifices with respect to employment, location, and understanding, adapting to, as well as blending in with the local culture not to mention wading through the legal issues of gaining deed and title to distressed property. This can be a very enjoyable thing or a very aggrivating. It all depends upon how you approach it and the seriousness upon which you view and wish to exercise private property ownership. Just realize that there are rights and responsibilites that come with land ownership that are not always readily apparent. <br>

I also wanted to say in closing this lengthy post that I SORELY miss TomG's and Peter's posts and if you are out there Tom & Peters and read this; I sure hope you will drop in and post from time to time and post a word or two. Maybe you have and I just missed it. Sure hope you are doing well.<br>

My first concern with your project is who is doing the work and will bear the resposnibility when some moron rolls their car over and wants to sue. Especially the idiot that is gawking at the work and forgets to watch where they are going.

We blame the state for a lot of their slowness to do stuff but when you look at the lawsuits they get and any contractors involved it is not hard for me to blame them.

The work can be done perfect with in established and proven procedures and the law suits will happen for any stupid reason.

This has worked in the past but I must make a note of CAUTION. If you can position the tractor against a very large imoveabe object such as a very large tree or some kind of wall. You can try starting the tractor against it with the clutch pedal depressed. In most cases this will break the clutch loose from the fly wheel and or clutch pressure plate. More or less the same principle of running a slip clutch in after storage. If the clutch breaks loose; store it with a one inch block of wood under the clutch pedal to hold the clutch off of the flywheel as the operator's manual calls for. This is not an ideal book solution, but is SURE does beat splitting the tractor in half if when is usually works. Just be VERY careful doing it. Also, in the event that you have not already done so; install the ROPS/seatbelt retro-fit kit that IS available from Kubota at cost.
