WOW!!!! A VERY interesting and wide ranging thread. Murf, I never realized you had ties to Z land and South Africa. I have some VERY strong, heart felt, and idealistic feelings and thoughts about this issue. I will just leave it at "don't get me started!" ;O) <br>

I am probably one of our nation's strongest proponents for private property rights. Although the USA is probably the strongest private property rights oriented place in the world; it has drifted FAR from its roots in the Declaration of independence, Preamble to the Unitied States Constitution, and the United States Constitution its self to say the LEAST. <br>

I make the FEABLE attempt to exercise ownership over more than a "few acres" of land. I have come to find out the reality that although the deeds to this land are in mine and my family's name and we pay the property taxes along with the responsibilities of ownership.................... we do not in fact in the final analysis actually own the land. The state and county by levying a property tax has forced forced upon us literally at gun point to our heads a partner ownership of this land. Don't believe me.................... just try refusing to pay your property taxes and watch how fast an an armed team of law enforcement folks come out to your home and post documents seizing ownership from you. Or if you inherit land from a parent; watch how fast "Big Brother" gets to the front of the line with his hand out to force you to pay the inheritance tax with the gun held to your head with the other hand. Don't have the money to pay the upto 45% tax?????? No problem......."Big Brother" will gladly send out the JBT's to seize your family land at gun point and auction it off for you, steal what they want and leave you the remainder if there is any left. Once the land goes up for auction, it is no longer just inheritance tax.......now you may incur capital gains taxes, closing costs, lawyer fees, etc. etc. <br>

I love living on such a large piece of land but I find that I am forced literally to constantly keep an eye and patrol it to keep poachers, trespassers, pot growers, methamphetamine manufacturers, ATV riders, and others off of my land. My fences, fence posts, and gates have been damaged and stolen. I have caught red handed local folks stealing creek gravel with dual axle commercial dump trucks and back hoes. Local law enforcement is TOTALLY useless in this respect and I must do it myself. I will just say that I am armed as well or better armed than the folks who used to "own" the farms in Rodesia and South Africa. During hunting season I wear body armor out of fear of being shot while walking and posting my property lines. Not whinning......... just making known the actual REAL costs of ownership of land. <br>

I love the land as well as have a GREAT respect for it, the area, and enjoy the relationships I have with my neighbors, and I walked into to this understanding the responsibilities of owning land in this country. It is not what most folks think it is at first glance and you should take this into consideration before buying land in this manor.<br>

Getting back to the original theme of the thread; there IS still land out there to be had for reasonable prices but you have to look for it and make sacrifices with respect to employment, location, and understanding, adapting to, as well as blending in with the local culture not to mention wading through the legal issues of gaining deed and title to distressed property. This can be a very enjoyable thing or a very aggrivating. It all depends upon how you approach it and the seriousness upon which you view and wish to exercise private property ownership. Just realize that there are rights and responsibilites that come with land ownership that are not always readily apparent. <br>

I also wanted to say in closing this lengthy post that I SORELY miss TomG's and Peter's posts and if you are out there Tom & Peters and read this; I sure hope you will drop in and post from time to time and post a word or two. Maybe you have and I just missed it. Sure hope you are doing well.<br>

That is very good advise to air the tires till the tread is is full contact with a level surface such as concrete. However the pressure needs to be adjusted every time that you put on other implements or take an implement off. I am in the tire business and I have farmers call every week inquiring about tire pressure on tractors large and small.

I was reading about Iowafun misaligned Pins on his rops and wonder if the base plates were torqued correctly.<br>

My pins are taunt but I hardley ever lower it. However I can see if the base plates were torqued crooked it could screw up the pin alignment.<br>

Without going into 35 arguments about libality issues. I would loosen the base plates and check the alignment of the pins and retorque the plates evenly.<br>

My first concern with your project is who is doing the work and will bear the resposnibility when some moron rolls their car over and wants to sue. Especially the idiot that is gawking at the work and forgets to watch where they are going.

We blame the state for a lot of their slowness to do stuff but when you look at the lawsuits they get and any contractors involved it is not hard for me to blame them.

The work can be done perfect with in established and proven procedures and the law suits will happen for any stupid reason.

This has worked in the past but I must make a note of CAUTION. If you can position the tractor against a very large imoveabe object such as a very large tree or some kind of wall. You can try starting the tractor against it with the clutch pedal depressed. In most cases this will break the clutch loose from the fly wheel and or clutch pressure plate. More or less the same principle of running a slip clutch in after storage. If the clutch breaks loose; store it with a one inch block of wood under the clutch pedal to hold the clutch off of the flywheel as the operator's manual calls for. This is not an ideal book solution, but is SURE does beat splitting the tractor in half if when is usually works. Just be VERY careful doing it. Also, in the event that you have not already done so; install the ROPS/seatbelt retro-fit kit that IS available from Kubota at cost.

The 4210 has smaller tires and the hyd. flow is less than the 4310/4410. John Deere doesn't even recommend the 430 or 300cx loader for it...but it does for the 4310/4410. The 4210 is the same weight as the "bigger brothers" (2900 pounds), so that is not the issue either. To me, it isn't only about the HP, but also about the capabilities to do loader and 3-point work (which is the hyd. flow). Check the spec. sheet prior to buying...if I remember correctly, there are a couple of other differences as well, but I would have to look those up. Good luck...you'll enjoy your "seat time" with either machine.

That should be covered under warrantee if the unit is under 2 years old. That could be a failure of the pump but one other thing I could suggest quickly is the location of the three point hitch lever.

I don't know about your area but check local codes , most of the towns around here will not let you attach a slab to a foundation due to the fact of frost movement

Top-and-Tilt is a must-have for me. After having it I would never want to be without.

My worst purchase is a 45 foot ladder. We have a really tall house and I bought this to reach the high spots to maintain the satellite dish, replace floodlights, etc. This thing is almost unmanageable for one person. I'd rather spend the money and rent a manlift for a day than wrestle with this monster.

Dennis, From a relatively newer member, I just want to say "THANKS" for your efforts in designing and maintaining this site. As a new CUT owner (purchased a JD 2210 last July) I've learned so much from this site. Murf, 2ndhandlion, KWShumm, Art White, Denwood, Brokenarrow, and all the others who contribute do a great job of helping "newbie" guys like me run our equipment safely. I read much more than I contribute, but that has helped me make a purchases like my Bad River Hitch and Woods Tiller. The site helped me install lights on the ROPS and modify my exhaust with a simple plumbing fitting.<br>
