Well the first winter has begun with my new baby (2210). First lesson learned whas that it can get extremely cold out there without an enclosure. Here in southwest MI, gotta stay up on the lake effect snow or have 3-5 feet to deal with. Anyone with ideas on enclosures for the 2210 toy...oops mean tool. Thought the missus was looking over my shoulder.

I would say it would depend on you and your uses. The kubota is tried and true as a long time performer. The new model deeres offer a new profile to there line up. Try operating and looking at the tractors for you and what you have to do and how long you expect to be doing it.

First I wonder what you have for tires as two sets might be in order with using the screws that they use on dirt bike tires for winter ice operation and a more aggressive lug style for your muddy conditions. I know if no limited slip for the axles. The horsepower we have discussed here before but with no sure answers.

John, look at the L-4400 still a flat deck tractor or you might find a 4300 some where yet and the price in four wheel drive will be less then the 5000 and you get the best of both worlds. It's in between the two sizes you are considering. By the way the last time I checked the Kubota computer was only 200 dollars and we haven't had any issues with them.

I will say that they have been a little light in this area to run a snowblower to cover the width of the tractor well. You would need at least a seven foot blower to cover the tractor width. I don't have the exact specs on that version as to if it has the hydraulic dump valve to use as a type of clutch with a forward reverser or if it is the older style dry clutch. The loaders were none QTach and built into the tractor. The horsepower will be plus or minus 50 PTO or about 60 engine off my cuff(not checking). I believe they all used an eight speed with a high low range and four speeds in each.

Iowafun; Things are getting real nasty here in Linn County as I speak. I just went to farm and back (3 miles). Nothing much more helpless than a pickup on glare ice. Guess I'll work on taxes today being I can't do anything much more exciting. Keep safe. Frank.

I know it's the time of year for massive giving. I feel stingy when I tell them no. But I like to know how much of my money is actually going to the people who need help. Too many "charities" or "non-profits" are set up for the leaders to make ridiculous money or to make a ton of money for the call center. Unfortunately, it gives the legit charities a bad name. Broken, many things can trigger the check engine light on but since it happened in the car wash while washing the under side of the vehicle im sure it was water penetration.
Most likely the O2 sensor and or harness or the evap system.
If it dries out and the PCM does not see the same problem again within 50 ignition cycles the PCM will shut the light off. It will store the code as a history code if you want to see what the code was. If hasnt been on since your probably fine.

That is what I use my JD4310 for, touch up. It will grade smooth what the dozer leaves a mess. All you need to do is look at your tractor parked next to a bulldozer and you'll realize where in the scheme of things it will be best used. Even at $100 per hour it's a bargan with the amount of work this heavy equipment can do, and you won't be over working your tractor. I had a lot of trees to move while making a road and the dozer just pushes them over.

Kubota's L series has long had a premium series (ending in 50, then 10, now 30), which they presently call "Grand". In parallel they have had a cheaper series which shared the same motors and sheet metal and damn little else, from what I have seen. Perhaps a more friendly name is "budget", or "double aught". As I recall, all the "00"s I have seen have mechanical fuel shut-off. Somebody on this forum will correct me if I am wrong. I have not made any generalizations about the Kub B-series, but aren't the "budget" Bs the ones labeled "B8200, B7800", etc, and the deluxe equivalents labeled "B2150, B2910", etc? I live to learn.

Finally, in terms of all the extras available on the Grand Ls, versus the "00"s, a comparison of my 1999 L2500 to its equivalent L3010, reveals way more than just a better (more expensive) tranny: The L2500 has no spin-on hydraulic filter, a single-sided (weaker)lower 3-pt support, lighter duty rear axle housings, no forward hydraulic block for loader connection, , no mid PTO, rear relectors instead of lights, etc, etc.

Hi, the model number 59 is correct. The snow blower is compatible with 790, 855,955, 4200, 4300, 4400, 4210, 4310, 4410. also fit 670 and 770 tractor. There are three attaching bundles required for installation which are different for the different models. For your 955, you should have bm21660 mounting kit, BM16492 front quick hitch and hydraulic lift kit, and the BM16494 2000 rpm front pto kit. These kits also fit the 855. For a 4400 or a 4300 or 4200 for that matter you would need the same BM21660 mounting kit but the front hitch and hydraulic lift kit is BM19575. And the 2000 RPM kit for 4200 - 4400 models is BM19576. Hope that helps.

I don't know about the going price for a 4455, but like Art said they were about as bullet proof mechanicaly as tractors got. They were the last Deere series before the computer controled transmissions, injection pumps etc. A nice 4450 or 4455 is real good property. Also they were the biggest Deere of that series to still have both PTO speeds as standard equipment. If it's a nice one it will bring good money. Frank

Lucerne, the safety switch is an interesting thought. I never correlated it with my problem. I could see how this could be the answer, I always seem to have been involved in looking at something around the tractor when this pedal issue comes into play. Maybe I am off balance when this happens, and when I realize the tractor has not moved, I reposition myself to press the pedal a second time - or maybe it just resets itself on the second push like you suggest. I don't normally do much cold weather work so I don't notice the problem getting worse right now. Thanks for the reply!

Jon, I've looked in the books and the only thing I can say is it looks like about 90" high to the top of the canopy as they don't list that spec I'm just looking at the loader to compare, but you would need to lower the backhoe boom which comes in at 106 at transport. Thanks for the Vote!!!!

Hello all. I need some help with AC 160 Perkins Diesel. I changed the head gasket, and tractor has been running fine for a month with no leaks. Today it starting leaking heavily. On the right rear of the block, there is a triangular flange bolted on, and on this flange is where the tachometer cable is connected. Below that connection on the flange there is a small hole (a weep hole???) and oil is pulsing out of that hole while the engine is running. What could be causing this?????? I did not disturb or remove this flange during head gasket teardown. <br>

Not knowing how much aeria you have to mow or what quality of cut you're after brings up another factor. If you're doing "Front yard" mowing a narower deck will allways do a nicer job unless your lawn is dead flat, (ours is'nt). I've got an 84 in. rear mount on the 4410. I works great for roadside, road ditch, and waterway mowing where absolute quality is'nt important, but the front yard is out. Best of luck. Frank.
