MOUNT PLEASANT - A Racine County supervisor criticized the state Wednesday for ordering former prison inmates on community supervision to quit their jobs as replacement workers at CNH Global. <br>

"I understand there's a union issue there," said Supervisor Ken Lumpkin, who had heard of at least 12 people who were told by their parole officer to stop working at CNH. "I feel it is unfair they were pulled off the jobs, especially in a society where many of these young men are seen as deadbeat dads. They're trying to do the proper thing, to take care of their kids, and this dramatic type of action occurs. It give them a feeling of hopelessness."<br>

Members of United Auto Workers Local 180 have been locked out of their jobs at CNH since November. The company is running the plant in Mount Pleasant with replacement workers - some who are former inmates in need of work - supplied by Strom<br>

The state ordered the former inmates to quit working as replacement workers to avoid a confrontation with the union members, according to a report on the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Web site.<br>

Union workers have continued to picket CNH's plant and offices in the Racine area during the lockout.<br>
<br>
Lumpkin told The Journal Times on Wednesday night that the state's decision was harmful to the ex-prisoners, who are left with little recourse. If they complain, they could upset the union and Department of Corrections.<br>
<br>
"Being minorities, many of these people have been locked out and left out of our community," he said. "They shouldn't have to be scabs, they shouldn't have to break the picket line to find job opportunities. But in the real world that's the way it is."<br>

Lumpkin added that it was unfortunate that unions do not do more to work with young minorities to help them find high-paying jobs. If unions would reach out to blacks and Hispanics, he said, the minority community would be more sympathetic to the unions.<br>

The state's decision comes as the UAW continues to picket CNH in hopes of returning to work. The union went on strike on Nov. 3 to protest the lack of a new labor contract. Workers called off the strike in late November, but were locked out of their jobs on Nov. 23 by CNH, which began using the replacement workers. <br>

This LUMPKIN guy has NO clue, Our union recruits menorities as much as possible. In fact the last few hirings of 10-12 employees each time we were commenting<br>
on the lack of white males being hired (next to none) It seems that if you are a white male, and applying for a job at CNH you need to be skilled or you will not get hired.<br>
This crap that the guy puts out as our union being anti menority is infuriating to me. <br>
I thought the company had inmates coming to work to replace us. Last week when a bus broke the picket line I was pleased to see the look of the "new employees". It was very uplifting to me to see the appearance of most of the scabs. By the way, I would be looking at JD for a large tractor purchase till this is settled and I am sure JD is "eating this all up" and loving every minuite as they also start to get new customers formerly Case/new hollands.

Sorry for late reply Murf, I'm in Fargo this week.

The rear seal leak is not just a little weaping. It's a puddle on the garage floor. The whole underside of the differential is soaked in fluid. So it's beyond a little leak. So I'm getting that fixed.

It's been 125,000 miles with very few problems and no money put into it except for filters, and oil. New tires at 93,000. So it's been a great truck. Bout time I spent a little money on it.

Well we heard from th JD dealer today. It appears that the steering cylinder failed. I guess something came apart from the inside.

When I looked at FarmTrac the 260 (I think that was the #) and 330 used the DaeDong ( Kioti) engine.
The 300 and 360 were Mitsubishi motors.
Montana may be using a similar setup, I don't know..

I looked at some of the same things when I bougt mine (4310). In hindsight the limiting factor in close quarters has turned out to be the length (tractor with loader ans attachment) rather than the turn diameter.

The L-48 has more reach then the 110 and it also has a pump just for the boom swing just like the L-39 meaning faster cycle times. There is no need for an skid pan for the bottom of either of the Kubota's as they have not had any major damage problems there. Kubota does have the option of the universal Q-tach bucket as well as top and tilt, thumbs from the excavators and the L-48 can run up to a three hundred pound jack hammer or a auger off the hoe.

The dealer is doing it right. He is breaking your engine in on the dyno and will also know that it is running the horsepower they should. Without dynoing I'd say you should see well over two hours or they couldn't have checked anything depending on attachments.

No matter how many hours, if it runs well and the major components work, it is a GREAT price. I would have to also agree with what has already been said...a 6 footer will make it work, but if your just "clipping," it should do fine for you. My advice...buy it!

I'd like to know where that engineer thought too much stress would be put, on the blade or the 3 point arms. I can't believe either since both of my blades can be manually tilted in either direction to dig the tip in to make a shallow trench, much like you could do with a T&T. they can also be angled in either direction and one can be offset.

This is a pretty common practice. My father has a 1970 Buick that is fully restored and we just had a friend who is a master rebuilder for a place in stratford CT who rebuilds and maintains vintage race cars. He told us point blan that all his engines hit the dyno and the ero ones especially are brough up to 10k rpm for the break in. He has yet seen one fail after this due to wear. This isn';t a great example because they are race cars and aren't out there for 100,000 miles but he told us to pound on it from day one and change the oil a few times in the first 1,000 miles and it is better to break it in faster because of the same reasons in this website.

Let's get real what new tractor owner is 1/2 throttle for 50 hours? You try to then inch it along before you know it you are at 4/5ths! Lots of old rental machines out there with 4,000 hours still running and they get pounded from day one. I guess it's preference. I don't pound on new stuff but I do change the oil a lot in the early life so I guess I'm on both sides of the fence on this one. AFTER READING THIS LINK AND TALKING TO MY BUDDY WHO IS THE REBUILDER YOU KNOW I'LL BE A LITTLE HIGHER IN THE RPMS WIT THE NEXT ONE! Why not, i'm getting older, why keep it good for the next guy if it does blow up too soon!

After a good many Alaskan winters, I would agree that the tank type heaters are the best thing made to warm an engine. Next best are the freeze plug heaters followed by the magnetic/contact heaters.

A magnetic heater coupled with a battery blanket would serve very nicely in the horse latitudes.
