Can anyone recommend a brand / model of post hole digger for a JD 4110? Will the standard model at Tractor Supply fit? Are there any fit issues? Any suggestions appreciated.

I have the Speeco Auger from TSC on my 7800. I think the 7800 is slightly bigger than the 4110, but it should fit fine. It is adjustable at the boom to handle different lift ranges. I have a 42" auger and don't have any trouble raising the auger high enough off the ground.

I drilled over 150 holes this summer with it, and it worked great. ....

Thanks beagle. I may just go ahead and purchase one and give it a shot. I need to start a fencing project in the Spring. I wouldn't think it would have a problem, I use a 3pt. boom occasionally and it has a full lift on the tractor. Since the PHD boom is similar in design to the lift boom, I'm hoping there won't be a problem. ....

If you don't get the lift, even though I think you will, you can always go to a 36" auger if you don't need 42" where you are at. Happy Drilling! ....

By the way, get a hydraulic side link if you don't have one already. It makes plumbing the auger a breeze. We would still be drilling without it. ....

Thanks again beagle. I'll have to add that on to the "fencing expense", although I can barely afford the fence!! Maybe I can get the neighbors along my property borders to share the cost. ....

downtoearth ,

I use Green mfg EM5000 series on a John Deere 4100 (same spec's as a 4110) and have the 42" auger. Works with no problems and plenty of lift height. I find the handle option a big help keeping the PHD in line IMO...
Its well made but I think they raised their prices recently

The top link attach point on the 4100-4110 is buried under the seat/Rops bracket. My PHD jammed into the frame when I lifted it up.

Watch out for this problem and you should be fine. ....

DRankin,
I remember you mentioned this a while ago, so I did my homework and found the green mfg to be a perfect fit for 4100-4110 models...no clearance issues at all!!
