I have no idea why it would be built without shoes but it was. I plan to let it wear the weld boogers and rough edges off for a year or so then tack sacrificial skids on the edges. For $1100 I could not go wrong for a like new machine.

Thanks again beagle. I'll have to add that on to the "fencing expense", although I can barely afford the fence!! Maybe I can get the neighbors along my property borders to share the cost.

Used Power Service additive for the first time yesterday. It was 6 degrees out and the '03 Dodge Cummins was so hard to start that the egine light came on and it smoked for a half-mile. Took it to the dealer and they suggested using the additive (yeah, right!) to get the light to turn off. It worked!

Denwood, It's not cheap!!! But the workmanship and end result are of very high quality. My wife is looking for the bills now. When she finds them I will let you know. The job they did for me was at my house on the Outer Banks of NC. It was the first beach house that they did. It has held up very well. The product is pumped in and applied up the sidewalls and posts about 6 inches. It has just about eliminated the musty damp smells coming up from the crawlspace. Will get back to you with the cost as soon as posssible. Mike.

According to the service manual the inner disc has the long portion of the hub toward the flywheel and the outer disc has the long part of the hub to the transmission.

Ya, it's in the manual. I don't remember exactly for 14 degrees, but 10 minutes is about what I do. Really important you let the hydraulic fluid warm up, and don't operate any of the hydraulic systems until it does. The fluid also acts as the lubricant for the drive train, so let it get warmed up and flowing well.

Looks similar to the truck I'm driving, only completely different, except the four wheels and four doors.

What a nice machine. Trying to figure out how to convince the CFO we need one of those could take some thought. Trying to get her into it (4'-10") will also take some thought. I wonder if it has a vanity mirror under the passenger visor. That could be a selling point.

I almost forgot. That part # is LVB25453 and it lists for $385.20 but the Deere website listed it for $312 when purchased with the tractor. My buddy Ricky at the parts counter sold it to me for $312 about 3 months ago.

cutting it off shouldn't be a problem and drilling through the bucket shouldn't be to bad. It will just take some time and elbow grease. Make sure you have good quallity drill bits and drill a pilot hole first.

I would look around for an old where bar from a doser or grader. It would most likely be cheaper than JD's.

Thanks everyone for the input. I purchased a 24 inch scoop, made locally and it works great. I moved 10 yds of top soil in about an hour, for a fellow that cannot justify a fel, this is a good peice of equipment.

I have to agree with Art and Frank, way too much money for what you get. I would look for something almost the way you want it and let someone else loose all the money they dumped in it.

The fact that it is self leveling hydraulically (It only levels going up)rather than mechanically, is where I believe the engineering failed. . Somehow in the valve, it won't allow power to be applied down on the bucket when boom is in float. I can't believe Kubota would allow this problem to continue too long given their great reputation. On our machine, they could not correct it with 2 shop visits and we gave up. Sometimes it is not easy to battle the big boys when you are busy with life. They tried changing orifices which required adding a adjustable valve so as not to dump umcontrolably. It did nothing good, just made the potential to have the valve set wrong and be dangerous.

I made a skid steer-to-3-point attachment carrier for about $200 (for a box scraper, and york rake). Works great---and talk about down pressure! My buddy has a pix of me pushing a boxscraper removing about 4" top layer of compacted clay from a 1000' gravel road---the clay was literally flying out the top of the box scraper becasue of the attainable speed, power, and traction. I bought a new cab enclosure on e-bay for $800 (even worth the price at $1800 new) and again from e-bay, a new cab air/heater for $125 ($3000 new). The kit was missing the air conditioniong compressor, but I just use the blower feature which works just as well and keeps the cab pressurized keeping out dust (air exits downward around foot controls)

Has anyone heard of a United brand Box Scraper. The local Hardward sells them. I want to buy one today, and the local TSC is sold out of 6 foot King Cutter. i was going to go with Landpride, but it was twice the price.

I am wondering if it would be worth while to try and sell my JD 770 located near Toronto Canada here on TP. The practice (that used to annoy some of us) of all the good equipment going south of the border has virtually stopped, now that the Canadian Paso is stronger. Any thoughts. It's also a question of becoming a member, so facilitate this. Thanks

I just happen to know a guy (old buisness partner/godfather of one of my kids) That has just about all the parts for a 50th aniv. He used to be in the rebuilding mode of vettes till he moved north and became a logger LOL Dont ask! He still has them and for what ever reason I dont know. I know for a fact he would sell them.
Logging is not too prosperous recently for him. His employee just got whacked by a tree and he is by himself now. Dont know if your into things like that? I bet he would give it to ya for a decent price

NOT A LITTLE WORRIED! Alot worried, infact run away. We work too hard for our money to take this kind of chance. If you need a tractor that bad right now I suggest looking elswhere (remember it is only the larger tractors that are made in Racine Wi. that are affected. Oh yes one more thing. The Fargo axles, I here they just had over 100 that need to be sent back to be re-worked. Oh yeah? Don't worry about the 85 tractors that need to be broke in half to have some O-Rings put in. At first we thought it was a cost saving thing, then we realized that the hydro-fluid that we lose every 10 seconds would fill your water bottle.
Thought I would never say this, but if your in need go "green" and please come back the next time. If your not in need make sure your tractor you buy is dated before Nov. 3 2004 or after (well after the lock out is called off) I said well after>? WHY YOU ASK? Cause there will be hundreds of tractors that will be in need of re-work. In fact just insist on a tractor made after this crap is done.
