I plowed yesterday in 14 degree temperature. I let the machine run about 10 minutes before and 10 minute after, with plowing it ran for maybe 35 minutes. Any rules of thumb as to minimum run time in cold weather? I suppose I could read the manual. It's a B7500 Kubota, if I looked it up in the archives I've probably asked this quetion the last 2 years.

I would think your doing it right.
I let mine come up to operating
temp. before rev. up to blower speed.

Ya, it's in the manual. I don't remember exactly for 14 degrees, but 10 minutes is about what I do. Really important you let the hydraulic fluid warm up, and don't operate any of the hydraulic systems until it does. The fluid also acts as the lubricant for the drive train, so let it get warmed up and flowing well. ....

Bob, your doing fine. I often don't give them more then two or three minutes cool down time. One part of cold weather operation is to allow enough running time to recharge the battery to a full state so they don't freeze when the temps drop below 0 degrees. ....

Sounds about right, but you didn't mention, so I will volunteer, that you should be 'idling' your tractor at about 1,000 rpm or it won't amke much if any heat at all.

You may want to consider an engine block heater. I plug in my 4410 about an hour or so before I use it which GREATLY aids and reduces warm up time and cold start load on the battery. ....
