Near the rear of my tractor, where the drive shaft goes to front axle, there is around plastic cap or seal. It fell out while parked in the shop and all my fluid ran out. What could cause this? How much fluid goes in and what holds this cap in place? Should there be some sort of o-ring washer.

There can be a number of reasons why your soil/sod isn't turning over good. Going faster helps. If you are plowing too shallow the sod isn't passing over the tail section of the moldboard. That tail section gives it that final flip. Some of the cheaper plows have a terrible moldboard design. Sometimes it is necessary to fabricate an extra wing that mounts on the end to give it that last roll. On the otherhand my cheap plow covers very good. I'm assuming that the plow is set up correctly and the plow frame is horizonal/level. Do you have a nice crisp cut on your furrow and a vertical wall?

First of all most of the "non traditional" students do well when admitted to college. This is mostly because they don't have the pressures that younger people have so it's really easier for older people to be accepted than for 18 year olds. Plus, older people have more drive to get done.

MRI tech:
I work with mri techs every day (I'm a research scientist in MRI). They make pretty decent money and most all of them seem pretty satisfied with their positions. It really is a good job in that they get to know a fair amount of technology as well as have the satisfaction of helping people. One of fishing friends is what I call a supertech. He works for a major mri manufacturer and teaches new protocols to the Docs and techs. So there is no limit to how far you can go. I don't think this direction is wrong at all.

Yes the noise only occurs in high range. It does not always happen and may start while just running along. Seems like it could be hydraulic/pressure valve related. The tranny is full.

I' ve got several restored Farmalls and all have been painted with Genuine Case-IH paint. When time permits We like to go to "Red Power Days" in June just to keep up on things and scrounge for parts. Nothing looks worse than a tractor repainted with a paint that just isn't original. After doing five of them, 95% of the work involves cleanup and prep time so I'd have a hard time saving a few bucks on the paint and not be happy with the results. Maybe I'm a little freaky on things like that, but that's just my opinion. Have a great day. Frank.

The other day I used my GC2300 with a regular Cat I King Kutter 5' disk. I have this disk to use with my '48 John Deere M but I wanted to see how the little tractor would handle it. As expected, the lift height was fairly low and the disks cleared the ground by just a few inches. Power was for sure not a problem but in soft ground where the disk sank in deeper the traction was marginal, even with 4WD and bar tires. Raising the disk slightly in these areas eliminated the traction problem. Since I have a larger tractor, I will not do a lot of heavy drawbar work like this with the GC, but then again you won't see me mowing my lawn with the old JD, either.
For what it is worth, King Kutter and other brands have dedicated products built for sub-CUT's that are made to work with the limited hitch lift height. The sub-CUT disk that King Kutter offers is nearly the same as mine but has smaller blades and a lowered hitch which should make it pull a bit easier.

well I do know that the hydrostatic filter in the gc2310 and gc2300 hangs a bit low for my likeing and for the tune of $1100.00 when you hit the filter and break it off in rougher terrain. other than that I have 4.2 hours on my little guy and love this thing untill it broke or I broke it. this is by far a better tractor than the other three by far....

awsome machine I have a 2310 with a hoe and man this thing smoked the deere and mr-kuboto. but hte only thing I ran into is the hydrostatic oil filter placement fopr it hangs low and I hit it on some uneven terrain "dirt mounds" well it broke off and the dealer charges $1100.00 for this joyous occassion. if you have a mid mounted impliment you need not worry about this. but be carefull.

mine has 4.2 hours on it and has no such problem.
but you have a mower deck and I do not. sounds like you could have a bad control see if your dealer can swap one off another rig for you to try...

this little guy is an awsome unit. and yes about 24 inches width at th 3 point if you have2310 "brackets" get in the way. one thing I warn you about is the hydrostatic oil filter placement is in the worst spot I have ever seen. if you plan to use this thing in rough areas be very careful or you may wind up with a $1100.00 bill such as I did. you have to remove entire transmission to replace filter holder. great design...way to go massey. hope your dealer will treat you better....

he is right but one thing I am warning all gc2310 / 2300 people is to beware of the hydrostatic oil filter placement this unit is out in the wide open under you tractor and if you arent useing a mid mounted impliment stay out of the rough I have broken my filter off and for the song of $1100.00 had it repaired this unit is mounted very poorly and should be relocated. or maybe a skid pan ????

have you or anyone you know broken the hydrostatic oil filter off yet. I have broken mine off. take a gander under your rig and see the placement of your filter and tell me it doesnt scare you. if you were to go in rougher terain dont you think this should have been tucked in someplace better and safe???? other than that this little guy is one hell of a rig. I tried the deere, kubota and the cub. the massey is much much more powerfull and I have a 2310 with a hoe and this thing is a crazy little rock remover.

WOW! 8.5 hours for external adjustments and oil change is excessive! Unless he was charged 6 hours pick up and delivery. Ask around if you can, to find out which dealer other people trust. Good Luck!

this little guy has a backhoe that will surprise you. the front bucket with a little magic and flick of the wrist is more than the kubota i have tried. I have used all in this catagory kubota, cub, yanmar,ect.ect. however if you plan the go in rough areas the hydrostatic drive oil filter is in the worst and i mean very worst spot imaginable I have already broken mine off and the entire rear end needs to come out of the tractor to replace the front pump housing I am still waiting for my bill from massey my rig has only 4.2 hours on it what a shame. I hope massey will step up to the plate on this one . I have heard of others with the same problem. I am not alone. but if you do purchase this tractor you will be very happy with its performance. this thing is very very spunky for a lawnmower on steroids.

Thanks to all that have posted here with their thoughts about our Veterans that have sacrifced much for the freedom we enjoy today.

Just after the election our local news was interviewing a young lady and asked her what she thought of the outcome of the presidential election. She said we just sick and was seriously considering leaving the country for the next 4 years. Where did our society go wrong? How can any US citizen truly feel that way? I was deeply offended by her callous remark. We obviously know her political persuasion which got me to thinking if the election had turned out differently, would we ever hear a conservative say the same? That they would leave this country because of how the election turned out? We might have been greatly disappointed, but we would never, ever even think about leaving this country that we love so much and and to have turned our backs on so many that gave their iives to enjoy the freedom to elect our leaders even if we don't agree with the outcome. Reminds me of the old tired bumper sticker: America, love her or leave her.

One last comment. In our hallway hangs a picture of my wife's great uncle in military uniform superimposed on the American flag. The picture is in a very old oval frame about 12" by 18" with the rounded convex glass that I don't even think you can get anymore. It's a precious heirloom to her family. He died in service to our Country in WW I. He was shot after the war was declared over going thru an area cleaning it up. He was buried in Belgium. It has been said he was the last American killed in WW I. A shame? Absolutely. But he died so we could freely elect our leaders even in 2004. Let's NEVER forget that.

I had to join after reading the posting about the 4200 that does not always start. I bought this tractor in the spring with 230Hrs and it has run great until a month ago when it just will not start at times. This week it will not start at all. It cranks over just fine but acts like it is not getting fuel. Two JD dealers said they have never heard of this problem with such low hours. After I saw the posting suggesting the fuel valve solenoid I called a third JD dealer and they confirmed this is a known problem. I'll pull it this weekend and check it out.

I've been debating between a grapple blade and a 4 in 1 bucket. Mostly want to pick tree limbs, brush and some trees.
I guess a 5 footer would probably do as well as a 6 footer on a 460 loader.
I guess I wanted someone who has used one to tell me they are worth the price.

Look at pics 8, 9, and 10. They show the nut. You do not even have to get underneath the tractor. Loosen the 12mm head bolt in the center then turn the eccentric one way or the other until the tractor sits still.
