I do agree with Murf a little goes a long way. But more agree with I do NOT like it.

Marketing people use statistics. A lot depends in how the questions are asked or even what is asked. Very seriously in my family I notice blue cheese was more popular in the older age group than any other age group. I mean ever older than mine. My children and in laws in their 30's and younger are big Ranch dressing eaters. Based upon something I read years ago as we age our taste buds like more bitter tastes than when younger. I believe that based upon the people who eat vegetables.

Joel thanks for all your help. Got stumped Saturday, we failed to get it to start. It has an electric fuel pump and it would not run. His nephew a small engine mechanic said it started right up last week for him. Will let you know what we find, when/if we do.

Is this an electric clutch? Is so do you have any way to test to see if current is getting to the clutch? Realize you know to test that only with engine off.

Building permits and building codes can vary greatly. You need to check with your county on that. Probably a phone call to the building department can answer those questions or get you close. Do note if this is a true farm some areas have different regulations on them or if a true commercial operation again different regulations on those. I would suggest you make a information gathering phone call to begin with sharing as little info as you can. Here calling the building a "shop" compared to "barn" makes major differences in plans cost, building options and so forth.

As to the building itself would suggest you try and find building like you want and begin with asking that owner. Strongly suggest you do a lot of looking at buildings for there are many options and there can be wide variance in cost on similar buildings.

I understand the fear of large repair bill. In my case I spent more on parts that were suppose to be the problem than it would have cost for dealer with wiring diagram and their knowledge would have cost. Also know each shop and case is different.

If still paying off, have you checked how long warranty is?

This has been topic before and with all such issues the best is to avoid it. Am sure that is why the thought of the chain.

Slow rpms to give time to react helps a lot and also often raising the auger to clear it can. However the stuck auger will still happen so be careful.

Use pry bar or such to rotate the auger back with tractor turn off.

Know there was talk in another thread about using hyd powered auger for this reason so you can reverse it out. kt

Dennis know it hurts but think on the good times and experience. You will realize he meant more than you probably realized then and be thankful for the lessons you learned from the good and bad times there.

We planted a holly tree with cement dog where we buried our Golden and I think of him every time I cut around it. We buried ole shoes and such with him as he loved to bury such. Most were ones he had buried and we dug up and saved for some reason. Sure do miss that ole boy. Knew it was safe to be outside for he was a great snake dog. Could sniff either kind out real well. kt

First welcome to TP.

Did this happen at a once? Or got worse over time?
You can not move the lever period, right? If so then suspect something in the trans is damaged. Then it may be in a jammed due a load on it when you parked it or such.

Now if the lever moves and does not shift look for a roll pin missing from shift lever or linkage.

With engine off, and may need help, try rocking the tractor with pressure on the lever and see if that frees it. Possible something such as trash or rust has it stuck and rocking may free it. kt

Do you have the option to mow up and down the slope? I would use the seat belt with the roll bar. Per others here the pucker is best gauge out there.

Do not know this tractor but sounds like the clutch is slipping. Do you have manual on the tractor? If so look to see how to adjust the clutch linkage and see if that solves the issue. If not you may have damage or worn out clutch for the PTO. kt

Joel I grew up about 5 miles from town but that was a major trip back then. Today live a little further out and think nothing of running there for lunch and back for supper. None of that would have happened in my growing up days nor when first married. Boy have things changed. Some for the better but not all.

We did plan ever trip to town for it you forgot or missed something it was normally next week to get it. That was not all bad.

Then ordering parts or supplies was a great way to buy and then wait for the delivery. Funny it is now gone back to that with ordering often off line and getting part of what you need the next day and lords knows when the rest will show up. LOL

Show conversation about John Wayne on cable the other day and it was told her grew up with Sears and other catalogs and still like to order from there all his life.

I have always found could gather more information from catalogs or on line than in most stores. Clerks often do good to know where it is in stores today and then to tell you what store does have it in stock. But no idea on fit or operation. Have second electronic motion sensor (indoor light) to return to Lowes within two weeks. It came packaged with wrong label and then does not work with timer or light sensor dependably. In the good old days of 14 years ago put in first one and set it simply and it lasted and lasted and now price is over twice, more like three times that switch and a piece of China failure. But Cooper is not the only USA company to do that, sadly.

When this was written was not aware we had any coyotes in our area and but since have seen only one in day light and it was sure different the way he looked at me compared to a dog. For about three winters had a neighbor who trapped our few acres and he did catch a few along with some fox and bobcats. If not mistaken he sold the furs from all of those and did fine with the hobby.

Was talking with a new neighbor yesterday afternoon on this topic and as well as deer and wild hogs. We have all but not to the point of being over run with anyone. What brought it up was his asking me why no rabbits.

My question is any idea how wild hogs and coyotes interact with each other? I would think the coyotes will kill the pigs and the hogs will kill the coyotes as either is able to catch the other. kt

We have a JD 4X2 not quite that old and did not realize it has a belt other than the drive belt. But if it is slipping would guess it would squeal and it would travel slower and weaker pulling.

My guess is as I think joyce1 is asking did he use a chemical that could have made the belt slip (one of my son in laws asked if I wanted him to spray a belt to prevent it squealing this week, glad I asked with what and he was talking about WD 40). I would also guess the chemical or the washing has created enough of electrical path to slowly drain the batter or has damage the generator so it is not charging when being run. OR the battery just happened to finally fail at the same time frame. Pull the ground cable off and charge the battery, the disconnect the charger and wait a couple of days and try and see if it has held the charge. If so doubt it is the battery. ky

Willie, that is about the same time I bought mine that failed in a short time. The person who did the repair work told me it looked like it could have had trash in the cylinder (which would have had to happened before assembly). If he has not reached out to Stihl go to their web site and do so.

Being run with no oil was not an excuse they could use on mine for it had been to the dealership so often they saw about every tank of fuel.

As to the price of parts, Joel (as he has done for others) went to the effort to find the parts I needed on ebay and email me the link at about 35% of the price with Stihl. No chocolates though.

This has been another Tractorpoint success for me! KT

You probably have made up your mind by now but would think a slow dumping bucket would be an issue for some material. Also the tractor brand, not familiar with it. Is there parts support for this rig? kt

I have used synthetic oil in all my engines with good results. Has been a while since switch an engine but you may be right as the oil is thinner it may allow for noise to transmit better. Joel could also be right it could have cleaned out gunk. Or could have a bad filter. kt

What are our options to replacing windows XP other than remove all software, install Windows 8 (which we have on one computer and hate it) and then find the original install disks to reload all programs and then do all the updates if they are still out there to those programs?<br>
