My auger is stuck in a hole - the 3 pt hitch won't lift. This happened once before and the dealer adjusted the linkages but I can't get it to budge. Front loader still raises and lowers fine.

Same problem - ended up disconnecting auger and using long crowbar to leverage auger backward since Kubota wont go in reverse. Next time I'll use a chain from the rollbar to the auger to limit the depth and go very slowly! ....

Don't ever attempt something like that!!
If the auger catches and starts to screw into the ground it will start to tip the tractor over as it goes down.
While you THINK you'd just step on the clutch the reality of it is it all happens pretty quickly and from the second it starts you're scrambling to stay in your seat and keep your balance.
Stay safe!
Best of luck.

Wow...I can see a tragedy in the works. It would be MUCH better / safer to grab a large pipe wrench and turn the auger in reverse to free it.
You have to keep something in mind....the tractor HAS enough uumphh to raise the auger. Add the weight of the soil/rock/clay or whatever is within the flute lines of the auger, then add in the rock or root (or pipe) that it caught hold of, that baby is flipping over backwards ... and FAST!
Worst case scenario, pull the shear pin from the auger drive, turn the tractor around, and gently work and lift the auger out with the loader...GENTLY, while turning out with a pipe wrench
I am with Murf...stay safe.
Best ~

OK OK! NO chain - it is dangerous but I suppose we are "stuck" with the backout with a crowbar method (A pipe wrench doesn't have enough leverage - I've been that route! ....

A pipe wrench doesn't have enough leverage, BUT, a a 6' pipe stuck down over the handle of the pipe wrench likely would.
As Archimedes said, give a lever long enough and I'll move the earth itself.
Best of luck. ....

This has been topic before and with all such issues the best is to avoid it. Am sure that is why the thought of the chain.
Slow rpms to give time to react helps a lot and also often raising the auger to clear it can. However the stuck auger will still happen so be careful.
Use pry bar or such to rotate the auger back with tractor turn off.
Know there was talk in another thread about using hyd powered auger for this reason so you can reverse it out. kt ....
