With it making the noise doubt it is this simple but your lift lever linkage could be rusted in place. It may need a good oiling. Don't be afraid to spray all linkage even shafts where they enter the tractor. kt

Frank, there is a severe lack of common sense today. Think we need to change it from "common sense" to uncommon sense. The ability to "think" or to make the effort has been lost. Partly and largely due to our policians who want us to just "trust them." Guess what was "horse sense" did not keep up with the horse power increase. It is easy to look at buying as a win-lose situation. It should not be. There is more than price to consider. One day service will come into play. If you are not comfortable to talk with the dealership or sales person as a friend, you are not at the right one. If all you care about is price then why not just use a bid request. Be warned that turns off many professional sales people. kt

On a possibly help, anyone have any experience with the soy diesel? Can you gain more from it than it cost to make it for fuel?

Also, did you catch the news today where we (the USA thanks to our fine DC crowd) are subsiding bio-fuel for Europe? The man made part is made in Brazil and shipped to us and then a little diesel (I think it was diesel) is added to made it a blended fuel and shipped to Europe with a dollar a gallon or such discount paid for by you and me. Now if that don't make me proud of the brains in DC hush my mouth. The way they reported it we have given away millions already with it projected to cost many more millions next year. What air heads. But we buy the tune they are blowing. So who is the biggest air head? kt

I suspect you are thinking you will continue to use your 9N when you buy new more than you will. The steering and brakes improvement will be enough you will find less and less desire to use the 9N. And if you have the carb trouble my family did with those another reason. Not throwing off on them. kt

Don't over look dealerships. No idea there but here the price of used compact tractors vary widely. Highest in construction and lawn care industry area and lower in farming area. Not that many miles apart either. kt

Could be correct. Could be difference in price to dealership due to size of dealership. Could be age of it being pruchased before a price increase or such. Could be option differences. Some may not be easy to spot. kt

Do not have a FEL but do run compact tractor even with field work and loader tires with no water in tires. It is 4 wh and have at times had to use that to pull sprayer or trailer. Do run a larger tractor for disking and such with filled tires. Pleased with both set ups.

If the tractor were going to be used totally for pulling on dirt I would fill my tires. If you are going to use a side mounted cutter I would fill my tires.

Without removing the tire from the tractor and getting the valve stem where it would totally drain do not think you can remove all liquid from the tire. Half filled not sure, but they say about 25% filled is a no no for when driving. Have no experience there. If you have air compressor it is possible for you to fill the tires at least with water. Anti freeze can be added if need be. At same time there are tire dealerships that work on tractor tires who will fill them on the tractor at your shop if you have water for a reasonable price. BTW, when you need tire repair, price them coming to you. Here the price difference is well worth it. Esp if you have loaded tires. You need to know if you have tubeless tires or not for repairs reasons also. Tubeless you had possibly plug a nail hole yourself, tube type and you will need help.

Something I did not notice being discussed was wheel weights. Not sure if Kioti offers weighted rims or wheel weights. If they only have the steel rim, you may need the tires filled.

IF and A BIG IF, you will be doing any width changes to your tractor which requires changing the tires around, filled tires are dangerous as the liquid weight of course shifts very quickly.

I agree with Auerbach, makes no sense how it would take load off of the front tires by having rear weight. Also agree with I think it was you that the further back the weight is (3 pth compared to the tires) the greater affect the same pound has for the FEL.

Do you have any idea the weight of what you plan to move will be? I am thinking you were using for clearing a barn. If that is it, just how much does the load weigh? Or will you be also moving a full bucket of wet dirt?

It does not matter the set up you end up weights or no weights, you should keep the FEL low for moving. That way if you happen onto a tip situation it will tip only to where the bucket touches and not turn you and tractor over. Boy as I typed that, the image of some one driving a slope sideways with the bucket raised hit me, dangerous. kt

Unless you are right on the coast you probably would need solution in the tires to prevent freezing. If your tires are tubeless, be sure they use something that will not rust the rims. I think the tires being filled gives a good bit more traction especially on dirt. If weight is an issue, probably not a good idea. kt

Joel and Ken you both could be totally correct. However, as the husband has passed away, it could be the tarp was placed over it by someone who did all they knew to protect the tractor such as the wife. Depending on the relationship with your neighbor it may be a losing deal for you any way it goes. In being fair to both parties, get a someone such as the dealership to go over it. kt

Chris, not a JD person but they probably use the spindle assembly on this deck on others so the bolt advice given probably is correct.

On my decks, found a block of wood good to hold the blade but a good impact wrench normally takes that need away. It would of course be dangerous to have the blades rotating while working there even if from impact wrench. On my decks I find if you snug the bolts, the blades will tightern them further. kt

In my opinion with you being gone as you are you need a very good relationship with a very good dealership that is LOCAL. You may find you need them to handle your maintance possibly by emails or phone request. The only way to know you have the right one is time with time. It may be email or phone or in person. A good one will ask what you want the tractor and or equipment for and will help explain what you need size wise and type of equipment. You also may find if you will be home and doing your work in short burst renting a good option, especially on any equipement you may only need for a certain job. <br>

An option to the pallet mover is the old style at least here were called snaking tongs. They work the same but have points on them to pinch into a log as pulled. You might find them locally cheap. You could weld on something over the point if you needed to. kt
