Murf, it would be easy to jump into this on her buying it. Now when you really want EW where is he? Did he disappear with the melting of the snow (it has melted in Michigan, right)? My guess is your gal is like my gal, she has already bought a lot and most of it is not returnable. :) kt

Joel, are you sure you have to removed the radiator? Kim, look, you may have room to change out the blade without removing the radiator and then you may not. Hopefully someone who knows this tractor fan blade set up will chime in. kt

Do your self a big favor, don't spray it once and forget it. A quick spray on all that linkage at least twice a year or any time after beiing used with fertlizer or I assume salt is good maintance. As the saying goes, been there, done that. kt

Johngall,

Noticed you have the same problem posted on two different tractors. If true, could someone have vandalized them? If not that have they had fuild and filters changed or could there be water in them. Just seems strange two tractors of different brands would have the same thing to happen at the same time unless it is due to either the action or lack of action by a human. kt

Mark99, reference your comment on the rpms to smaller tractor; a few years ago had a neighbor tell how he would never run above 1500 RPMs. Puzzled me until I found out his Massey red lined not much above that. My brother has a Massey which at about 1500 engine RPM's give you 540 PTO RPMs. While my Kubota about the same size (around 70 HP) I think is over 2,000 rpm. At same time I grew up with auto engines that for highway speed cruising would 500 to a 1,000 rpm higher than today's engines. RPM's sure do vary from mfg, size of engine and such.

I have a B2710 Kubota with 3 range HST trans, run on pave road often about 1/2 mile. There is a vast difference in the road speed at 2,000 RPMs and 2,500. Running with full forward pedal at 2,000 RPMs it will jump if you increase the engine to 2,500 rpms.

As to the stability of your current tractor, can you widen your wheel base? If not on the front axle even the rear axle change may give you the stability you desire. If you are keeping your lift arm stablizers loose, tighten them up as much as you can and not bind the lift arms will help prevent the movement of the load from side to side. The side to side sway of a heavy load on the 3 pt can affect a small tractor a lot when on a slope. There are also pull behind implements for each one you list that would move some load to another set of wheel. For stability with load, do you have ballast in the rear tires, how about front end weights? That will help lower the center of gravity also. Realize may hurt you on your lawn. Of course speed affects stability and be sure of the air prssure in your tires! Low pressure is not as stable as proper air pressure and depending on all factors you may need to push that to keep the side ways stiff.

As to being very rough on the grass, slow wide turns and of course not using 4 wheel dirve on grass shold help if not solve that problem.

And that is why the spinner knobs on this can be a negative. I did not realize how the wheel varies until I did put a spinner knob on tractor with totally hyd steering. kt

If your pto shaft is not rotating when the tiller engages the dirt, you have tractor problems. I believe that is what you said when you first posted that it stops. kt

If there are no worthy dealerships there, sure would affect my attitude on buying a tractor, a machine which will require service and parts. Getting info over the internet can be good and even great. But it is a great place for preditators of all types. If you look here you will find it offered many times a lot of which tractor brand is right for you depends on the local dealership. kt

Mark, was the number you called 1-877-GOKIOTI? Per their web site that is the USA company. They are located in North Carolina. Is the party your purchased it form where they can help you at least to tell you what dealership it was sold by? Could be more than one reason they don't find your serial number begining with wrong number entered in database. kt

Know two local dealership who recommends the Perfecta brand and one does not sell it.

One of the advantages in tractors and implements is the ability to use about any 3 point hitch tractor or implement with any other as long as you remain with the same category. No idea on Cat 3 (largest I know of) but a fair Cat 1 and Cat 2 will also work together. Often if you have a Cat 1 implement you can use special bushings (low price and all tractor parts or dealerships have them) on those lift pins with a Cat 2 tractor and if you have Cat 2 implements there is no way to use in on a Cat 1 tractor unless you change the lift pins. There are bolt on lift pins made to change the connection pin from Cat 1 to Cat 2 and the other way also. It is a pain to have implements that are used with two different Cat tractors. kt

You may wish to visit Kubota's web site on the model. They do a good job showing the time frame each model was built and what the letters stand for. Is it possible the hood has been repainted or decals replaced or such. But it sure would seem easy to tell if it were two wheel drive or four wheel drive. kt

You might should be using a higher gear on your tractor when pulling it, you are after a controlled pull. Realize the gearing and rpms the tractor is made for compared to speed the you are being pulled. It is amazing WD 40 does so well to not only crank but will run a diesel if you keep spraying it as needed. Wish you well. kt

See the 30,000 is not a typo, have impression it is either plants per acre or expected pounds per acre.

If they give fertlizer recommendations there as they do here and if they knew what crop you were going to plant, they gave the needed fertlizer for the recommend planting per acre. If that is true, not sure why it would be any part of your calculation the fertlizer needs.

The 2.5 feet left between rows, why that width? Will you need to get between the rows of celery to harvest it? If so you probably need to make at least every other row wider for tractor or truck. Here you would find about the rear tractor width between the rows and then they will skip a row or two every so many rows to allow for driving through the field for harvesting. That being said, if you totally clear a row as it is harvested with no second harvest, you can always drive down the row just harvested with tractor or truck to load the next row and would not need a row skipped for that. (even if room at each end, 150 feet to tote a green crop is a long way.) I think you said earlier there was no need for any spraying for insects or weeds but if there is, be sure you have room for that between the rows (tractor will not clear the crop quickly) but you must do this to match the length of the boom arms on the sprayer. On the liquid nitrogen, will you be putting it out while the tractor still clears the crop, or will you be running beside it?

I am sure you are both excited and nervous with your first crop. One other suggestion from a just retired farmer here who grew many acres of watermelons: keep a crop journal, anything that affects the crop record it with date with the amount. Limed May 6th, 2008 and amount. Even type of lime. Be sure to record your yields. That way you have a great reference as the years go on. Even the oldest of farmers only plant for say 50 or so years or 50 or so times. Not many businesses out there where you put so much money on the line with so many things you can not control with so few opportunities to get it right. That is a big reason you need to find and develop a good realitionship with others growing what you are. kt
