lbrown, did you open the tank to check the amount of gas? If so and the air vent was clogged there should have been some sound but you may not have notice but the cap being off would have allowed the gas to have flowed so if you open the gas cap and it still does not flow there must be something in the line stopping it.

I had a gas line that turned to gel on a small engine from inside out. Was har to find. Had an insect get stuck in fuel line inside tank once, did about same as your's. kt

Get yourself a dog to ride in the pickup. That is why there is a dimple in my tailgate. Have you thought about one of those net type tailgates? Seriously did laugh first but sorry for your loss. Glad it was no worse. Please do post pictures soley for education reasons you understand. :) kt

Bill, no hills here but we do have some rolling land. I farm a field with at least a 20 degree slope and run over it any direction with any farm equipement I wish to with no problems. I think I mow with small tractor on a grade about your 35 degree but do so very carefully as the down hill side is a ditch. Have never had the tractor give any indication it was near a tilt situation. But I find it very uncomfortable to sit there. kt

I have no idea on your engine. It would seem something here does not make sense. You say it has no safety features and the writing is Japanese and then it is not a grey market model? The only suggestion I have is to ask the current owner to explain. I would be careful. kt

Our gas gator does the same each spring. I thought at first it was the gas going bad but I think it is condensation in the fuel. Either way, keeping the choke partly pulled kept my running until it cleared up, which was not in just a few minutes. It does not seem to matter if the gas tank is left full or fuel stabilizer added or not. You can tell with our's it is in the fuel the way it dies. kt

I am sure there are those who do well with farm equipment auctions and those in my area may be totally different than the ones there but one word comes to my mind with auctions: JUNK. Most of what I have ever seen at a local auction is worn out or outdated or such. Hey if you have found something at a good price or in good shape great for you. But what good I have seen there I could buy for less price at a dealership.<br>

Depending on the way the auction is done, be sure you are bidding on the piece you think you are. I am sure there are honest auctions companies but be on the watch for bidding against yourself or against someone for the seller or auction company. Sometimes you can not know this depending on the sixe of the auction.<br>

Yes I still read auction flyers and do visit their sites and sometimes make an auction. Just know what some of them are. kt

As much as they can really be in my opinion anti American, you may wish to talk with a newpaper there, one that does reports on the police department or the local government already. It is good you are following through. One of the biggest problems in this country is people not willing to care or do anything about it. kt

Under the heading of been there and done that...there was a reason you did replaced the filter. Are you sure your tank was clean when you finished draining it? Are you sure your fuel tank vent is not clogged so air can get into the tank? Was the "new" fuel new from station or just new to the tractor? You are sure those bubbles are air and not water or some other liquid. kt

We had an SUV once that's oil pressure dropped to ZERO per the guage. It sounded like it also. The mechanic dropped the oil pan and pump, found no damage and no reason but it went back to proper pressure with that. They guessed the pressure regulating valve in the engine was stuck open and the removal of it jarred it enough to remove what ever was keeping it open. Have no idea if this is possible on your engine or not. kt

I almost missed it too...the JD X324 has an uncut RADIUS of 9 inches...that is an 18 inch circle...a far cry from a ZTR. The uncut radius per JD's specs is much larger on the other models in this series. A ZTR will get under low linbs(at least those I have seen) better than any tractor model will. The ZTR's I have much of the deck in front of the seat. However the front mounted would be better for that no doubt. kt<br>

One last thought, stick steering is different than a wheel. With a ZTR it must be stick as you can have both wheels going full speed forward, different speeds to turn to one full forward and one full reverse (close to full maybe). That can be touchy until you get use to it. Another very basic thought, be sure the deck is narrow enough with the mower to get around all the landscapping you have done. The longer the mower, the bigger the turning area will be.<br>

I may be wrong but the inside walls of my barn will get bumped. A slight bump okay, but the Hardi board will not take the impact 7/16 OSB will. To mount such as shelves over it I think you will have to mount to the studs, not as easy as the OSB or plywood would be. I have used 1/2 Hardi some on outside of old house and like it there. My 1 cent worth. kt
