Ken pretty well covered the hitching and unhitching of three point implements. I do have a quick coupler for the three point and like it, mine is a Land pride brnd. Check the Land Pride website I'm sure they will have pictures and descriptions. Your hitch probably is a category one.
The direction you insert the shear bolt doesn't make any differenc. You shouldn't have to pound it in, it should push in with your finger. The head of the bolt will have markings on it to tell you what the hardness is. There is a websitwe somewhere that has the headbolt markings, other wise take a new one to a NAPA or any good hardware store and they can match it.

I'm not familliar with Kubota mid mounts but regardless of brand mid mounts have always had two big drawbacks.
# 1 - Unless Kubota has a newer system midmounts have always been a pain to mount and dismount regardless of brand.
# 2 - Are you sure of the price? High cost has always been a factor with mid mounts, I would have expected the mower to cost twice that amount. Many times you can buy a really good used rider for about the same cost as the deck only. That was my experience, hence two riders instead of a rider and a midmount in my shed.

As Auerbach has said any of the three will give good service and have a large dealer network for parts and service. In this case a good dealership that you are comfortable with is much more important than the color of the hood.

I probably shouldn't even post on this thread, I spent 99% of my waking hours during my working years just concentrating on what was ahead of me to get done for the day, week, year, etc.. For that reason I just trusted the government to do the right things as directed by the group of people and a Big Kahoona we elected to handle such matters. <br>

Looks like I had my head in the sand or up somewhere else far too long. Since my somewhat retired years have come along that actually give me time to read more than the headlines and the obituaries in the daily paper I've begun to realize that a lot of things happened that I should have paid attention to, inflation for instance, it crept up on me. We get our monthly check from Uncle Sam, it is automatically deposited for us. In the beginning, five years ago, of our social security years we just used it for ordinary living expenses plus a few little odds and ends with some left over when the next check came. That's all changed, now we have to watch the balance and usually kick in a bit from savings before the next check comes. <br>

The people at SS said we didn't need a cost of living increase because there wasn't any inflation, WOAH!, where does he buy his Wheaties? We are fortunate to have some other assets to carry us along covering what our SS checks dont, but there are a good number of older people we know who have nothing but their SS to live on. A wide variety of reasons for their situations, illness, low paying jobs that contributed little to their SS accounts, addictions to alcohol, gambling, etc. What ever their reason, this is no time for finger pointing criticizing them for not having an adequate SS income, what has happened has happened, we cannot as a society be so inhumane as to punish them by withholding basic needs.<br>

We must somehow continue to fund SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, WIC, Rent Subsidies for the elderly and poor, etc. to care for those who cannot care for themselves. Defense and Armed Services, Highways, bridges, etc., etc., must be maintained too. I don't know this as fact, but my senses tell me their probably is enough fraud, price gouging, etc. to cut those costs quite a bit too.<br>

Ok, that's my little sermon on what must be taken care of, now how to do it? I don't know how, and I doubt that our esteemed President and his cronies on either side of the aisle know how either. I think Carl Sagan was the first man to introduce me to Billions, and Billions, now Trillions and Trillions. The debt ceiling showdown of a week ago was nothing more than a charade to make one or the other look good at election time, why else would Obama want it to extend past the 2012 elections, even I'm smart enough to understand his second grade school yard strategies there.<br>

I'd almost bet my last dollar if I hadn't already spent it that their spreaders are a pull type with a PTO shaft to power the spinners on the back. The web in the bottom of the hopper is usually ground driven. There may be bigger three point mounted spreaders but I've never saw one around here. The only mounted ones I'm familliar with are the little 50 and hundred pounders that go on the back of a lawn mower.

Yes, it's been a while since you've been around, welcome back.
The pull type spreaders I've used would need a 60-70 hp. minimum size tractor if all conditions were ideal, like dry fields, no wet spots, steep inclines, etc. The size load you put on it has a great bearing on the size tractor needed too. With ideal conditions a 60 - 70 hp. tractor will handle a couple tons of product without much strain.

Hello and welcome to Tractor Point. We ned some new menbers with questions and every new poster has some answers to help us old timers too.
I don't like to welcome a new member with a scolding, BUT you tell of trying to push over a tree with your front end loader. Lots of people have been killed or bad hurt doing just that and not just people who were new to tractors. I lost a friend a few years ago, he was an a man in his fifties who had ran tractors since a kid. He was trying to push over a good sized tree that just wouldn't go down after being sawed off. I did this myself too, just once, but was lucky and didn't get hurt, I've never did that again.

If you have a use for the other attachments besides the loader and the snow blower I think I'd have a hard time letting that deal slip past. The loader is the most expensive of the attachmnets and I'll guarantee you will soon find the others usefull. You won't believe how much you will use a box blade and if you ar a gaener or if you will do any landscaping a tiller is a neat machine.
A tractor that appears to have had reasonably good care with 6-700 hours is barely broken in. Most anything major that could happen covered by a warranty would have already happened before 600 hours.

A lot of things enter in to a tractor's value, but having it running would add a lot to yours, probably a new batterie would make it go. There are two 1210's similar to yours with no attachments listed on Tractor house for $3500.00 - $4500.00. I learned from an old hand at selling things thru want ads, etc. not to brag up what you're selling, like good as new, excellent condition, etc. The only things need said are what it is and the price you'd like to get. I've did what the man told me and it does work, people will sell themselves on something. For example 1985 Ford 1210 diesel 4 wheel dr. "as is, where is". 4,500.00, or what ever price you want to use. Say no more than that.

I think the diamater of the fan in the blower would dictate the RPM that the blower fan should turn.
Any small category one three point hitch mounted rear blowers I've been around drove direct from the tractor 540 PTO and the blower diamater was I think somewhere between 16 - 18 inches. My point being that a really small diamater blower would have to run faster to attain a fan blade tip speed adequate to throw the snow a reasonable distance. On the other end of the spectrum a large diamater fan could run slower to attain the same tip speed. Do you know the RPM of the front PTO on your tractor? I think your goal would be to have the fan run as near the speed it was intended to run when front mounted.

I've never changed a bearing but have you checked the roller chain behind the tire? Is it stiff and kinky? That may be making your clicking noise.

I'm not familliar with the adjustments on a Cub Cadet so I don't know how low #4 is compzared to the Deere I'm used to.
I don't think it would be good to remove the wheels completely, they are your last line of defense against the deck gouging into the turf.

Like I said I always have room for new things to learn. I'm not a chemist so I really wasn't ever sure what synthetic oils were made from. Another place the word synthetic has been used for a long time was synthetic rubber used to make tires. I've never known what synthetic rubber was made form but just assumed it was a product of some chemicals being blended together.
I used to restore some old Farmalls that usually had been sitting in an old barn or sometimes under a tree for years without running. Most all of them had the inside of the rocker arm cover coated with about a half inch of whitish slimy goo that must have been the buildup of sludge that collected for years. The engine oils used in those old tractors no doubt was a non detergent oil that didn't keep the sludge in suspension to be sorted out by the filter. I haven't had a rocker arm cover off of a late model diesel engine but I would assume that no matter the type of oil used the slimy goo wouldn't be there. Likely the better detergents in the new oils carry the goo away to be caught in the filter and likely the higher engine temperatures would keep the whiteish part,(water) from collecting.

A compact tractor or any tractor, Gators, or any gas powered equipment for that matter used on an acerage/hobby farm situation seldom log a hundred hours in a full year's use. For that reason I don't adhere to a strict so many hours service interval. For example if a tractor has loged 65 hours in a year's use I don't like to let it go into the winter with old oil just to get the full hundred hours of oil use. Oil and filters are almost free compared to parts and service, so I like to see all the little engines have a fresh service going into the winter for the next season's use.

I don't know anything about the price of a used Kubota, but I'd sure try to work the cost of a FEL in on the deal. Within a few days you'll wonder how you got along without one.

You make a good point. The 4310 has two sets of Deere wheel weights, me, (a short 300 lbs.), and always a box scraper, tiller or bush hog on the three point, so a lot of extra weight there.
I have no idea what the #48 backhoe weighs, but the rear tires don't look any diferent with it on or off.
The fronts are starting to show some tread wear, but the rears show hardly any tread wear in about 750 hours, probably less then ten hours of road time in the 750.
So far I've had a couple front flats but not a rear yet.

I don't know any specific tensle strngths of any category top link, but they have to about as strong as anything I've ever seen.
15,000 lbs. lift for a Cat three seems about right, they now have cat 4 and 5 so they would have a lift rating of probably in the 20,000+ range. I had a couple 8000 series Deere tractors with Cat 4 hitches, I have saw several occasions where lifting something too heavy with the three point brought the front end off the ground. The pull on that top link was more than I could believe it would handle.
I have never saw a top link pulled in half, but I have heard of, but didn't see where a three point hitch mounted backhoe pulled a chunk of casting out of the rear housing of a tractor, but the top link didn't fail.
