I did basicly the same as auerbabh with a pair of 5 inch channel irons sticking out avout 3 ft. from each corner, but as dnsmith said they don't stand heavy loads nvery well laying flat, maybe I should have stood them on edge. Frank

EW; Serious as an undertaker for a change, If had about 500 other jobs caught up that sounds like a fun project. With enough time, a Surplus Center catalog, and your unlimited repair budget, I see no reason it couldn't be done. My biggest roadblock would be explaing to the Mrs. why I'm working on someone elses stuff again, instead of building her new bedroom set, kitchen table, computer desk, disposing of the rusting "H" Farmalls out in the grove that have followed me home like lost puppys. Really given enoughy time and study it shouldn't be that tough to do. Best of luck. Frank.

Golferdude; Glad you found them. We used to get caps similar to yours for H and M Farmalls from I THINK Shoop or Schoop, a mail order parts outlet from somewhere in Ilinois, I think they are still in business. Frank. PS, I know I'm spelling Illionis wrong, sorry if I offedned anyone from there.

Pkpurple; First welcome to the board. What other needs do you have for a tractor other than cleaning barns? Unless you specificaly need a small statured tractor to fit in tight places for barn cleaning, then perhaps something a bit bigger with front wheel assist for loader work and other needs outside the barn might be a better choice. If this is your first tractor purchase then perhaps finding a nearby dealership that handles one of the "Big Three", (Deere, Ford - New Holland, or Kubota) might be a better choice. They all have good products backed up with parts and sercvice for the long haul. New is always nice, but any of the "Big Three" dealerships will likey have a good selection of used tractors in most any size and price range. Frank.

Adamc44; My neighbor had a 410 that got in bad shape. Some of the hydraulic parts are obsolete and it had enough other ailments tnat he parked it out back, I think he has since sold it to a junkyard. If I remember correctly they had some sort of rotary hydraulic swing cylinder on the boom that was a problem.

SW; Thanks for all the info on sump pumps, I hadn't heard of the water powered ones. We have built two homes and both have tile around the perimiter and under the basement floor, but in both cases we had an outlet to a field tile and didn't need the sump pump. One of my cousins owned a home in a nearby town that was below the gravity capabilitys of the city sewer. In his basement floor was buried a cement tank below the floor with a sewage pump that would kick on when the tank got full and pump the sewage out and up to the level of the end of the city sewer line. It never looked like a real cozy deal to me, but far as I know it still works. Hey EW we seem to be getting along almost too well lately, are you hittin the brown bottle or what?

Acerguy; 20 yrs. or so ago air to air heat exchangers were used around here to pre warm the outside intake air for the combustion of the furnace with stale inside air being exhausted. Most of the heat was supposed to be retaind in the incoming airstream that was given up by the exhausted air. I haven't heard much about them lately, maybe they weren't all they were claimed to be? Someone here spoke of the European mass heaters. There was a show on History/ Discovery/Science channel, not sure which a while back about the older homes that were built in Europe where a massive stone fireplace was the center of the home and the rest of the house surrounded it. I forget now but it was a long period of time that the stone would hiold enopugh heat to keep the house warm.

Kthompson; I'd like to follow in my Dad's footsteps. He lived to be 95 and never missed a day in the shop till he was 92. I'm kinda useing Dad's advice when I told EW to buy a plasma cuter and do it himself. Dad wouldn't hire anybody to do anything he could do himself. Frank.

In the last evening or so I saw an ad on the speed Channel for engine gaskets that are reusable. They showed a head gasket that had been in and out of an engine two or three times and was still considerd reuseable. When questioned about the price, the company rep said they are no more expensive than a conventional gasket. I don't remember the company name. Frank.

If the basic design is similar to the 42-4400 series the hydro pump is totally seperate from the hydraulic system pump, both drawing their needs seperatly from the sump. It seems a million to one that both the hydro pump and the hydraulic system pump or pumps would fail at the same time.
Do either systems have a jerky feeling under load as if air were getting into the suction side of the pumps? It doesn't seem likely that a stuck loader spool/bypass/relief, would affect the hydro drive or vicea versa. In my thinking it boils down to some reason that the pumps are starved for fluid, which without a mechanical restriction is not likely with low vis. I'm as stumped as the rest, but just throwing out some possibilitys. Incidentally, the dealership I have my service work done at just won't put anything but low vis in summer or winter. I agree, thin as rainwater, but so far so good. Frank.

Congrads to both of you. I've never smoked, but since a teenager used Copenhagen till January 20th. of 1986 and went cold turkey. I was so addicted that I was chewing THREE cans per day of that crap when I quit. Let no one tell you that they don't put somethiong in that stuff to make you crave it. Used it for 30 years and been off it for over 20 amd still crave it. Frank.

Mendz3; You use the term "lines", is it always the same line or has one blown off then the other? If it is always the same line then perhaps something in the cooler is causing a restriction. If it blows a hose on either side of the cooler, then maybe the return line has gotten pinched. Frank.

I've never saw a Woods blower, but it likely is similar to most others where the fan is directly driven from the PTO shaft of the tractor giving it a 540 RPM speed. No snow should fall back down the chute when operating at full PTO RPM. Double check to be sure there isn't a key that has been sheared on the fan shaft and the fan is only spinning from the friction of the shaft in the fan hub. Frank.

Several years ago a good sized second or third generation Case/IH dealership a couple countys from me all of a sudden had quite a display of Belarus in the front line along the road. a few months later, not a Belarus to be seen. I always wondered what happened, whether Belarus disapeared by choice or on demand by Case/IH. Frank.
