If someone started building Ford Falcons again with maybe the addition of electronic igniton and absolutely no other light blinking gadgets and especially with real brakes instead of those death trap brakes we have now I'd stand in the rain waiting to buy one. I'll admit they weren't much, but you could fix one yourself with a screw driver and a pliers. Oh for the simple life again.

You don't say where you are located. here in Iowa it would be far too early yet, best time is late March or early April here. In the south things will be earlier. Call your county extension office, they will have the info you need for your aeria. Frank.

Over40; The chicken manure not being full composted may smell a bit till it gets rained on a few times or gets worked into the soil. My Saturday morning job when I was a kid was to clean the chicken house, it did'nt smell too good. Maybe you can get it that is full composted. Frank.

I have to agree with Kthompson, we have a Gator 4x4. It does everything we need done, and here in Iowa it is street legal for farm use. The other plus a Gator had for me was the ease of getting on and off compared to a four wheeler. Frank.

A dehumidifier would no doubt help the situation. During wet spells like you describe we open a couple windows till it dries up. I've learned my lesson so far as sloping the garage floor toward the doors, if I ever build another garage it will have a floor drain in the center. Frank.

I'd say that most of the tractor related deaths that I remember in our neighborhood had to do with felling a tree or moving logs or stumps. I've been guilty of doing some things with trees and a tractor that weren't real smart in the past. A safety reminder is good for all of us no matter how long we've been at it. Frank.

I've did such a thing but with a box blade. I lowered the teeth on one end a bit more than the other plus tilted the 3pt. hitch toward the downill side. after a few passes I got the slope I wanted. So perhaps you might rent or borrow a boxblade for the job. After the slope is established then a loader will work fine, Loading one end of a bucket can be hard on loader frames not to mention the safety issue from a roll over. However you get the job done be extra careful working along the edge of a ditch, things can happen quickly. Frank

Bill; To my knowledge the "H Framall" was never produced as a diesel, only gasoline or dual fuel, (gas/distillate). There were othere things such as crank controlled radiator shutters, and an exhaust heated manifold to help the distillate burn better. If you see an old Farmall with a white arrow above the "run" section of the heat guage, that was meant to be the ideal water temp to operate the engine, you controlled the temp with the little crank on the lower part of the steering wheel support,. it adjusted the shutters. Yooperpete; I just checked my "Farmall cheat sheet" to be sure. The bore and stroke and high idle remained the same for the Super M's thru the 400 series. then went to a 4 1/8 bore in the 450's. The compression was raised a bit and I think a bigger carburetor jet size in the 400's. My Dad thought his 400 was a fuel hog compared to the M he had before. At one time the M and W co. sold a dual throat carburetor and intake manifold along with the "Fire Crater pistons" to boost them up some. Unless your Dad bought the 400 new it may have had oversize pistons when he got it, that was a real popular thing to do back then. I grew up with those tractors and even tho in later years I jumped the fence to Deere I still enjoy them. Enough out of me. Frank.

The hiway dept. used to have sand barrels along the road at hills and intersections. I'd totaly forgotten about them till reading this post. Do any states still do that? I think they were meant for truckers to refill their wheel sanders. I haven't seen them on trucks for years. Frank.

I've eaten hydrophonicly grown tomatoes from a green house that gets warm water from a powerplant. They tasted ok to me, but it was also midwinter in Minnesota. Still real hard to beat a homegrown vine ripened tomato. Frank.

Bigbouey; I don't have any experience with the "20 Series" Deere tractors, but have lots of seat time on "10 Series" with power reversers, probably half of the total hours doing loader work. If I were to buy a new one today it would again be a power reverser, I just can't imagine anything being more comfortable to work with. I've demoed hydros but just never liked them as well, they just don't have the solid feeling of gears to me. I'm sure I'll be shot down by the hydro folks, but I'd take the extra power of the bigger tractor with the power reverser at the same cost in an eyeblink. Enjoy which ever you choose. Frank.

Medic24; I can only remember of one Belarus dealer in our aeria, and they've been gone for years, very few were sold localy. Depending on how well they sold in your aeria would have a lot to do with parts. I've had some experience trying to bring a couple old Farmall "H" tractors back to life that had sat in a grove or field for years. Unless the Belarus is of some special collector value the "Pasture Finds" in any brand will usually cost more to save than they are worth. Best of luck. Frank.

Funny how different states or countys have different requirements. Here the county will only aprove double wall plastic. You buy the permit,furnish the fill and hire or do the work yourself to county specs. If you're lucky enough to have a hill top drive they will still aprove a dry fill. Frank.

De Twang, I went to a commercial food equipment supply store to buy some new kitchen equipment for our church hall. I could'nt believe what all they had there in both new and reconditioned equipment, things I never knew existed. So to make a long story short there may already be such a thing as you're looking for. My cousin burns a mix of fuel oil and waste oil in a converted oil furnace in his farm shop. I think all he did was change to a different nozzel size. There used to be a truck that came around once a year or so buying waste oil for ten cents a gallon for re refining. You had to have a minimum amount and a way to pump it on him. I haven't seen him for several years, so I don't know if they still do that or not. Lots of interesting things to discuss. Frank.
