Appreciate this an old post but thought I'd chime in. Purchased an older gas (abt 2003) 6x4 a while back. Quite rough and about 1800 hrs on it. The gear grinding was unbelievable so after a bit of research I just decided to go all out and replace the primary and secondary clutch. Job was done and now gears change quietly and smoothly like a brand new machine. Am sure it could have been done much more cheaply by reconditioning one at a time, but i figure with two brand new clutches the machine should be trouble free for another 1500 hours...

Well, 2 weeks ago I visited the JD dealer in Spokane WA. Off the cuff quote for 2920 with FEL and filled R4 tires delivered was 16950.00. I did not try to haggle or anything. Just wanted to see the rigs upfront and get a feel for how this all works.

Last night I made a special 17mm wrench to be able to fit the injector line nuts, and got the lines off at the injector. I tried the pressurized air thing with a hose and a rag on the fuel fill - not much happened, a little fuel out of the return line I had open.
Cranked for some time, and never got pump primed. I had the pump suction off earlier, and had fuel there, but I need to re-check that again. Left charger on last night, so I can try more cranking this weekend.

I have a JD 116 also. It is a very good tractor. I would highly recomend it. The 116 came with either 38" or 46" mower decks. I have several mowers, and it is my favorite for simple mowing.
Some reported prolems with engine valse seats coming loose. If that happens, not sure there is a good fix for it.

I have an old JD 116 that has become very weak. It is firing on both cylinders. Just re-did valve clearance to make sure they were OK, and power remained weak. Engine is OLD, burning oil, etc. Not sure RPM is where it should be - seems slow and my attempts to adjust governor not working. 3 questons:<br>

Can these be overhauled without adding a steel sleeve to cylinder??<br>

If I need to re-power, how do I find out engine output shaft specs without removing engine and measuring??<br>

I was quoted an OTD price of $25,500 for the L4400 HST with a 6 Foot Land Pride cutter. I have seen some packages that include a trailer, box scraper and 6 foot bush hog for cheaper than what Im paying.

What are dual remotes?

Hi, New to site and new to Massey Grey's always wanted one, and now have one.<br>
I have been slowly restoring,<br>
I have a problem with engaging and dis-engaging.<br>
I removed the Pto shaft to replace a leaking seal and bearing.<br>
I imput the shaft and the side lever wont move, (I have removed R/H side plate to make sure the selector is in the slot)<br>
When I first removed the shaft the lever was in the neutral position, But I later noticed it had shifted to the engaged position when it slide out. <br>
I have removed/ in/out 4 times now putting the lever in each position.<br>
So basically it is either engaged or dis- engaged in either position, it wont move.<br>
Auy Idea's would be appreciated.<br>

I have a taskmaster 24hp I bought almost 2 yeats ago. It also had some installation problems but once they were ironed out have had nothing but success. Do think the clutch is slipping and don't have a good maitance manual to check, but will check with my dealer and find out what needs to be done. Have front end loader, brush hog, box scraper and rock rake. use all of them at one time or another without any problem. They all marry well with this tractor and for the price is great. Had a Mitsubishi for a short while, too many probems with the hydrolics.

The reason the NEC was changed was to be certain that ground fault interrupt devices would operate properly from sub-panel circuits and to prevent poor bonding to the neutral wire which can easily create a shock hazzard in damp locations. This separates the requirements for grounding and bonding at sub-panels. Metal pipes or ground rods are bonding to the ground (not the neutral) buss in the sub-panels.

A good internet reference on NEC Article 250.4 is located at "http://www.iaei.org/magazine/03_f/03_f_threechiefs.htm". It describes the installation detailed in the first post and provides step by step details on adding the fourth (ground wire) and why the isolation must be done in existing installations.

What is needed to convert a Hinomoto e16 from a 2pt hitch to a 3pt hitch? Do I just need to add the top link?<br>
Are parts available from AgriSupply or Northern Tool? Part #'s?<br>

The domestic brand tractors want wayyy too much for a new machine. We could buy a used JD or NH, or we could buy a new foriegn brand tractor. They're all made overseas anyway, right?<br>

We have three choices for foriegn brand tractors in Phoenix. Kioti, Mahindra, or Workhorse. I'm interested in anything you have to say about them.<br>

For the record, if I could afford it, I'd have a New Holland in the barn. But, the local dealer wants $18000 for a TC21, just tractor and loader. That's just silly.

Oils are very confusing. The recommendations posted are all excellent to follow. I use Rotella T 15-40 for my John Deere 4100 diesel. Ask your dealer if you can sub that for the 10-30 and still protect your warrentee.

Yes CC and CD are old designations. CD was replaced by CF which you will find listed.

CG-4 was developed for oils used in 1994 and later, low-emission, high-speed, four-stroke cycle diesel engines. It is also typically used for diesel engines using low-sulfur diesel fuel. Newer engines that are used on-highway or off-highway applications may call for CG-4 quality oils. One of the main advances in CG-4 versus previous quality levels is the ability of the oil to handle high levels of soot that is generated by some of these low-emission engines.
CF-4 was established in 1991 to specify oil quality for severe- duty, low-emission, four-stroke diesel engines produced in 1991 or later. Oils meeting this category offered improved control of oil consumption and piston deposits versus previous quality levels. CF-4 has essentially replaced the CE quality rating.
CF-2 was established at the same time to specify oil quality for severe duty two-stroke diesel engines. CF-2 has essentially replaced CD II.

I just found a Long 460, 1985 model at the NH/Kubota dealer. It shows 800+ hours, but who knows if it's accurate. They didn't know much about it and didn't know how to start it! Does this tractor have some hidden secret?
They're asking $4950. Reasonable or rediculous?

I'm thinking about buying a JD 2210 with the 210 53" loader. I've got some lanscaping that is going to require me to dig into some sod ground, mostly clay. I asked the dealer if it was capable of digging in clay ground. He wasn't sure but thought it would. If anyone has experience with it's digging abilities I would appreciate the input. Thanks!

My JD 950 is in pieces and my last attempt to build the engine was an expensive failure. Low range shot. I've been looking at air cooled tractors. Do I buy a new Eicher 364, or the well used Deutz 4006 with home made looking FEL which isn't running (dealer assures me it's just fine tuning to make it run) for $3500? Little success in finding used JD engine......

I have an older 950 in pieces. Sheet metal rough, low range doesn't work, turf tires in good shape. Engine shot and apart. Hydraulics worked well last time it ran. The question is: Do I part it out, sell it all or find an engine? I have an offer of $400- is that right? Where could I get an engine and how much would it cost?
