MJBMAN, I have a TM 432E that I purchased earlier this year (60 hours so far). Aside from some dealer quality control issues when I first got it, the tractor has done everthing I've asked it to and more. Very strong tractor. As to the parts, not sure what the arrangement is with the individual dealers out there, but I've had no problems with getting parts from my dealer. I beleive my dealer is located at the main headquarters for TM tractors, which is in Oregon.

Folks, just wanted to let you know that I did get my tractor to crank on the very evening of the day that I had first posted my plea for help. Didn't even have to charge the battery! It took a few times but it eventually decided to crank up and run. The only difference is that it was about 10 degress warmer than the evening before. I guess my tractor cranks ok down to about 40 deg and that's it. Any lower and it just balks. Turns out that it rained cats and dogs the Saturday we were supposed to dig post holes and so we postponed it a week. Anyway, to answer some of the responses to my post, I was getting a light colored smoke but it was sort of hard to tell because the shed it is parked under does not have lights yet. I was judging by it a streetlight in the backyard. As for the throttle, I would pump it sometimes, and sometimes hold it down about halfway. The 750 does use the throttle to shut off. You can crank it up and take the key out of the ignition and it will continue to run. It only shuts off when you pull the throttle all the way back. As for the lights on the dash, when I switch to the left the red light on the left side comes on. When I switch the ignition on, the red light on the right side comes on. So, I guess I need to get some fresh diesel fuel and change out the old stuff. Might need to check out the glow plug too. How can you check to see if it is working correctly?? Also, is there anything I can do (sort of like a tuneup) to make it easier to crank up in cold weather. Thanks for all the helpful replies, folks. Keith

I have a Leinbach post hole digger that came new with the 9" inch auger. I was wondering if there is a 6" auger available for it and if so, what price is it? Who would carry them? Also, are these augers sort of standard (to some extent) in the way they attach to the gearbox output shaft?? Would a 6" auger from another brand fit mine??

Don't need the manual but if you don't mind, can you please tell me the price you paid for your 750 at the dealer? I have an '81 and am just curious. Please include particulars such as year, hours, MFWD or not, condition, etc.... Thanks!

Just learned that a local equipment company here in Lexington, SC is going out of business. His last day is supposed to be 6/29. The company is Lexington Equipment Company and their phone is 803-359-2705. This fellow specialized in repairing/buying/selling the older Ford tractors only and didn't really deal with any other brands. I think he has a stockpile of parts for them. He also has a decent selection of new and used implements. Last time I drove by there, he had a few old Ford tractors, a good many implements, and some trailers on the lot. I have no connection with him, but thought anyone in the area might like to give him a call and see if he has something you need before he's gone.<br>Keith

Danny, the Yanmar that your guy was referring to must have been a bigger unit than the JD 750. I own a '81 JD 750 and it is a 3cyl machine with a Yanmar diesel engine rated at 21hp, producing 17hp at the pto. The JD 850 is rated at about 25 engine hp. Yanmar does make most all the engines for the JD tractors that are 30hp and under. Not sure if they made the whole tractor though. There are others in this group who could tell you that for sure.

Rob, you didn't tell us you had access to a REAL tractor!! In that case, a compact will serve you well for your immediate needs. When the task calls for a bigger, meaner tractor then you can go "bum" the bigger JD from the relatives!
I bet that later on though, you will want to move up to a 30-34 hp tractor yourself!! It happens to us all sooner or later!

You did not specify which Land Pride mower you have. I have a Land Pride 15-48, which is a medium duty mower rated to cut 1" I believe (don't have the manual right in front of me) brush. In reality, I think it would cut 2" pines but have not tried to. The 25 Series are the heavy duty models. I am certain that they are rated to cut 2" and maybe even bigger stuff.

Jim, if I were you I would try to do what Murf suggested and "dig" your way under the carport. Much easier than trying to remove and replace a ROPS so you can drive right under it to start with. I have a JD 750 that I bought used. The owner had removed the ROPS from it. I ordered one from a JD dealer and installed it myself. It was a real pain getting it on, had to hang it from a limb and work it in place, and bolt up which took most of an afternoon. Yours maybe easier to remove/replace if you find that you have to, but try the other approach first.

Tom, I did not mean to insult your intelligence and apologize if you felt that way. None one here has any way of knowing your background in tractors. So like you say, let's see if any offers of good advice can help you figure out your problem. As in my previous post, I think you need to jack the tractor up on all fours, crank it up, and engage the the four wheel drive in low gear. You should see all four (well, at least two front and one rear tire depending on design) tires turning. If the front tires are not turning and the shaft to them is, then you most likely have a serious problem. As Roger, said, there are no locking hubs on tractors so you would have to have a problem inside the differential itself. If you can't jack it up on all fours, you can try to jack up just the front end to get the front tires off the ground. Then, with the tractor in two wheel drive, grab one tire and turn it. What does the other tire do? If it turns with the driven tire, or in the opposite direction the limited slip or spider gears (respectively) may be ok. That would point to a bad ring & pinion gear. If the driven tire has no effect on the other tire at all, then you have a serious problem with the limited slip or spider gears. If there is a problem inside the diffrential, and that can be expensive to replace and repair. Let us know what you find.

Folks, I just recently bought a new Leinbach post hole digger with 9" auger for $372 from a local dealer. I have seen a digger used before, but I would still like advice on using one. I know you can bury one if you are not paying attention! Soil type in upstate SC is hard dirt with good bit of clay/rocks mixed in with it. Thanks!
