Not sure what your set-up is, but epoxy like J-B weld usually can fix these things. I'd grease any threads first so as to keep from stinking there.

One possibility is a blocked fuel tank cap, no venting. Leave it loose and see what happens.

Sometimes I find the commonly used rear attached equipment need something more than a change of link and playing with the adjustable link. In those cases I cut the things off and shorten them and weld back together,

In another case, I modify the equipment to be attached.

While I am not turned off totally with the BX, I should say I only got it because the dealer for the blue tractors didn't return my e mails!!! His boomers look great. I have two of the older blue tractors of the compact series. They have a great three point system and that spoiled me. The BX is used at a city lot, while the blue tractors are on country lots.

I had to modify the BX control handle of the three point with an extender to the rear, since that control is way forward on the fender. For this old guy at age 85, holding that lever while looking backward at rear equipment just doesn't work.

I really was not expecting that the BX three point control would be any different than my experiences and that of my neighbor with the B series. It goes to show ya gotta test everything before buying.

As to snow plowing with a plow in front, or just a bucket, try that on a lawn area with not frozen soil below. I use my rear blade in reverse, blade pointing away from the movement direction. It works.

That does not seem to match the wording of the specs, which say "24" from the pins".

I don't believe the ends of lift arms usually have pins. In my view the "pins" are at the inboard ends of the lift arms on the tractor body. Thus that capacity in the specs is more likely at the ends of the lift arms, assuming they are 24" long. It is not another 24 inches farther out.

Not knowing what a user will attach to the 3 point, the designers have to go by some known point that is obvious. They could get even more technical and tie capacity to the shorter arms that lift the lift arms.

There is one other factor that may come into play. If someone has somehow reduced the weight of the tractor itself, especially forward, and his hydraulic system has a stuck high pressure relief, lifting a heavy rear weight can raise up the front end of the tractor. My small BX Kubota has such 3 point lift capacity that grubbing some bushes, I had to add some weight out front to keep from lifting the front end off the ground for the stubborn stuff. And yes, nothing broke.

The reverse is true if you have a front bucket with good lift capacity, you can raise up the rear end trying to lift a big weight by the bucket. Not good on a side hill situation.

Hi All:

This idea sounds nice for some, but where I live and with a 500 foot driveway and bad drifting of snow sometimes two or more feet deep, I would still go with the simpler solution. The rear blade. Then with a bucket on the front I can pick up some snow and move it if needed, which I suspect would be difficult with the front blade.

In my experience, with rear blade plus the front bucket, I found the rear blade gets used maybe 95 percent of the snow removal jobs, and bucket is used sparingly.

Come later part of winter, and you are boxed in with the icy hard packed piles, the bucket goes to work to move that hard packed stuff out of the way.

At another site where I also plow snow off lawns, I turn the blade backwards and back up with no gouging of the lawns and it still does a fairly good good job in reversed position.

Finally, my experience with using a bucket to plow snow or to grade earth, going forward takes a good control or gouging of earth takes over. Back dragging helps. There again, I find the rear blade is easier to control to avoid gouging.

Then comes the snow blower on the rear. Nice when wind is in the right direction and you gotta get it clear of the windrow, but is rarely used by my neighbor with the same long driveway. He goes with rear blade and front bucket mostly. Snow blower is not used much.

Agree with all for uses other than farming in my case. Then come attachments. There are many. While they don't get the use of the bucket, they sure save time, and allow work that otherwise might not get done as well or at all. One attachment that certainly should be on hand for most tractors. I leave mine on most of the tine. It is a quick hitch for rapid three point attachments. For instance, I made up a bracket to fit on it containing two trailer hitch balls as well as a clevis for rope. While manufacturers are right saying any heavy towing should be done from a level lower than the rear axle to minimize the risk of the flip up over backwards accident, I find that most of my pulling by the three point is rather light, such as trailers or lawn sweepers. My second and third quick hitches came from Harbor Freight and are equal to higher priced items. Another useful attachment that is very handy in case of power outages is a PTO powered generator. The list goes on.

Here is a clue for handling earth, stone, etc from a pile, If possible use two tractors of unequal size. Working toward each other they pick up all the stuff without any hand work.

I do not have the long experience with older tractors that you have, but one thing I have done with three tractors I have had is to add a quick hitch to the three point. Sure makes changing implements easy. Most have the required cat. I spacing of the lugs. You can look at several possibilities, but my two from Harbor Freight now are equal to the higher cost from other suppliers.

On the hand crank for leveling the three point, the 1720 New Holland that I have has one. Sure works great. You can repaint it to match.

In my book a rear blade has it all over a box blade for many jobs.

About greasing of the loader. I'd not get too excited about following the 10 hr thing affecting the warranty. By the time the warranty runs out you won't be having any trouble no matter what you do to it regarding greasing. The cylinders may leak but that is not something you can affect by greasing.

Instead think about what happens on construction. You don't see any contractor greasing the tracks on a Caterpillar tractor. They run "dry". If you have ever ground valves on an engine you know what grease, combined with sand will do. It is a greats abrasive. So, if you run with dry joints for a long time as compared to limited greasing, say every 200 hours, then the dry joint thing will last longer. So, your main goal then for reasonable care, is mainly to keep dirt out of the joints, not to lubricate anything. So if you do a lot of snow plowing and using the bucket there, don't get too excited about greasing. But if you are digging in dirt, especially sandy, then that is where the greasing comes in useful, mainly to keep dirt out. Be sure to clean off the fittings before fitting with the gun. Then leave some grease on the fitting to keep dirt out of there during operations, but wipe off before greasing.

If one of the joints is prone to be dragged thru the dirt, then you might even think about caring for that one after each day of work. I have one loader with such a fitting that gets plugged up with dirt. Then I wonder, if I push in some grease will that dirt go in the joint? So far, it has plugged so much that I have given up greasing that one. So things get sloppy; so what.

As to my complaint about the BX three point system for raising or lowering the system, it is not a true "draft control" where you set the control lever to a certain point and then the system moves the three point arms to that position.

In the BX I have there is no supplemental follower device, as on most larger tractors, to keep that set of three point arms at the desired position. Instead the control is spring loaded to sit at mid position. From there you can move it down or up and let go it returns to mid point. It apparently attached to a valve with probably 4 ports. one is pressure in. Two is feed to the pistons, Three from the pistons and Four to the reservoir. (Could be ports two and three are the same port) The valve connects one and two when the lever is puled up from its spring loaded neutral position. Three and four then connected together relieve pressure on the pistons as the control lever is pushed down. Let go and arms stop. Pretty crude. The ability to gradually move the three point up or down is very touchy. Ir's almost either full on or full off for each movement (up or down). This is totally different for controlling the three point arms than for larger tractors. It's livable, but could be much nicer. My use for this three point is mostly snow removal on hard surfaces, so no big deal. Grading earth or snow removal on lawns is another matter. In that insistence I turn the blade around so it does not dig in. That works quite well, especially by backing up.

I would not give up. However, can't that machine go up that grade by itself. The main risk as I see it is the grade and the resulting tilt backward of the traier will shift some of the load off the hitch, so you might want to be heavy on the hitch. You need weight on driving axles on gravel or you spin.

Anyhow once I had a real big load behind a Chevy 1/2 ton up a long hill in hot weather and overheating was present. In order to get a very low range gear, I put it in 4WD low range and it worked.

As to trailers, my home made single axle trailer has an axle rating of 6,000#. There might be others out there like that.

I've had a stalling problem with a BX series tractor. After all sorts of trials, such as filter replacement, it comes down to lack of fuel caused by a bad venting of the fuel cap. It stands to reason if you want to get fuel out of the tank, you gotta let some air in. Cut off the air and eventually you have a partial vacuum that can't be overcome. I had a Kubota Utility vehicle and it had the same cap, but a large tank that apparently helped the situation in case of a plugged cap. So now I leave the cap slightly loose. Cap was replaced under warranty, but the design looks weird.

Recently bought a Ford 1320 tractor with 60" mower. While I suppose the manual for sale at SSB would answer the question, I would like a scanned copy of the adjustments needed for the attaching mechanism. Otherwise it looks pretty straight forward. Tractor and mower have 1400 hrs and all looks good.
