I have a Agracat tractor that needs repair. I live near Mpls, MN anyone know of someone that will work on these units. It needs engine work or perhaps even a new engine?

Mine was delivered today. This may be smaller than some of you are used to. But, it is much larger than I have any experience with. So, with less than an hour on the clock, I am still getting familiar with it.

I am concerned with potential power on my hills. When driving up hill to the pole barn, it just would not go in high range with the loader and rear blade on and ballast in the tires. It had no other load, all lifted. In high, as the incline increased, it slowed and the foot pedal became harder to push and seemed to vibrate and not go any more. So, I quickly stopped, shift to low range and it goes up fine. I don't know if this is normal or not.

The operator manual nor the DVD shows anything regarding what to expect from the HST under varying conditions. Anyone know of a thread to that kind of information?

I am impressed with the i-Match simplicity. So far, it looks promising, but more seat time will tell.

I did not get the hours - will take a look. Also had a back blade on it (they are cheap?) and says has two buckets - has a 6 1/2 foot one on it now and the photo looks like a slightly smaller one.

The same guy has a Ford 3000 with a front end loader for $5500 (among others). That seems a bit steep also.
Is the "used tractor guide 2004" a good resource for prices? Planning on taking a look at that also.

Looking for a tractor to bring in maybe 10-15 acres of hay, but manouverable enough to be able to actually use the loader for getting horse manure and plowing the driveway.<br>

I think that I need at least 35-40 HP for running a baler (if I drive slow).<br>

Was looking at some old tractors including Ford 3000 and 4000's, couple others with this horsepower (mostly gas). One of the problems is that you can't even see the bucket from your seat for most old tractors with this much HP. They still run $5000+ at the used farm equipment dealer.<br>

He also has a JD2040 with a 40 HP diesel, nice loader, 3 point hitch (one of the newest ones there). Now this one you can actually see the bucket. Of course he is asking $10,900 for it. Compared to the other old ones, it appears that my wife many actually be able to drive this one?<br>

Not looking to spend much, but willing to spend $10K for something that will last and perfor the function as opposed to $5K for something that will not really fit the bill.<br>

About all you can do is try to improve traction. Tire chains and
weights help but it is still only 2 wheel drive. The Onans always start
unless the battery is low or there is water or dirt in the fuel.
I dont know of a pre heater for this engine. If you have the unit in
a garage and have any type of heat at all it will always start. They
are not warm weather only engines. The only units that would not start
for me were the diesels, and only if the battery got low. If we put
a jumper on they would always start.

The Steiner transmissons are rated at 15Hp each.(even less on the old ones) This means that you can run a 30Hp engine and not be out side of the design parameters. 70Hp will blow the hydro pump apart. Even if the pump stays together something else will let loose in short order. I can appreciate your ingenuity but just about any type of Briggs, Kohler, Kawasaki, Honda, etc.
Would work without being dangerous. If your project with the Subaru works out please post some pictures. It would be very interesting to see.

I'm getting ready to trade in my 1997 755 with 275hrs on a 990. Going from 2 to 12 acres and need a bigger tractor. Mines has the loader, 4' bushhog, and 4'boxblade. It's a great 4wd tractor that's never missed a beat. The dealer is offering me $8500 on trade. Maybe we could work something out if I bought the 990 up there. Well, my old MTD 5hp chipper shreader is not getting any better. Maybe if I spend the time to split it open and sharpen the blades it will improve, but even at its best, it was ... slow. At 3 grand for a pto model that may (or may not) deal with leaves and vines any better than what I have, it sounds like I am better off spending the money on a trailer. 10 bucks a load (20 dollars a ton) to the processing center (they have a grinder bigger than my house for all green waste) is not going to break the bank, and unless I hear otherwise, chipping leaves and branches is not a whole lot faster or easier with a pto model than it is with a standalone model like I have already given up on. I.E. I can load up the trailer, drive 1/2 hr to the processing center, spend 1/2 hr going through the line and having them pull the stuff off, and another 1/2 hr driving back and STILL be ahead in terms of time compared to chipping it myself.

I was trying to convince myself that a pto chipper was a better investiment than a trailer. I have failed. It seems that the best solution to my problem : too many branches / weeds / green waste , slow chipper / shreader, don't like having my s10 full of leaves for the rare time I actually want to haul something else : is to buy a trailer, fill it as I go, and haul it to the processing center with the truck when it gets full.

That is, unless I have missed something..

He he he. I know what you mean about rentals. My wife was scared to death of the thought. Then I introduced her to the property manager who is on call 24x7 for our property as well as a couple dozen others. Sure took the hassle out of it. The tenents pay the mortguage plus insurance plus taxes and we still get a c-note every month. Smartest investment I made, especially considering what the stock market has done this year :)

You are correct, I am confused. The Model is a L4350DT equipped with a wet EC, I believe this represents Ever Clutch which is an electronic power reverser. Please excuse me for my confusion. Be that as it may, I would sincerely appreciate any other info you might have on this model.

This reply is to Ricky, I am the service manager at a Stiener dealer. I think that the people at Steiner are wonderful. When we get in a jam they ALWAYS help me out. ALWAYS. I have never experienced what your dealer is talking about. I cant speak for the other brand but becoming a Steiner dealer would be a good move.
