Did a similiar thing with my TC40D w/SS. Did not bend a steering rod but ripped a hydraulic hose off. Dealer replaced it for free. Still not sure exactly how I did it but noticed pretty quickly as one wheel stopped steering...

I bought a TC40D for this reason, wanting the future option of the mid PTO. I've since been given a very stong hint by the dealer that the mid PTO could be mounted to the TC45D, but the dealer is not allowed to do it. Can anyone verify this? Is the transmission the same? If so, then this is truly just some marketing hype.

The JD4600 is similiar in size and hp to my NewHolland TC40D (actually a few hp more). I use my TC40D for baling (std square) and pull a haywagon while baling. I do not pull the largest haywagon (holds 275 bales) but use the smaller wagons (only 150ish bales).

Plan on using the haybine for mowing later this year after installing a remote valve on the tractor.

Don't remember the model numbers of either piece of equipment.

Have a TC40D and fuel usage runs about 1.2 to 1.5 gph running at 2200 to 2600 RPMs (heavy use where engine "lugs").

The NH 17LA does stick out further in front than the 16LA does due to the supersteer. The additional length is a bonus at times and an extra obstacle (I have a TC40D w/17LA). This additional length does not reduce the lift capacity (the specs state 40 lbs less) but is an issue of leverage. When the bucket had a heavy load the back wheels can come off the ground unless a counter ballast is mounted on the back.

I own both a 1949 Ford 9N and a NH TC40D. Bought the 9N around 11 years ago. Loved it, was a great machine for mowing, driveway grading, etc. Needed a loader for some new property and bought the TC40D. Am partial to my first tractor and my memories but am now looking to get rid of it due to how much better the new one works.

Just built a house on the new property this year so I understand what you are going through budget wise. If the choice is between the tractor (which can always be traded in later and won't lose much value) and some significant upgrades to the house (which are impossible or not as cheap to install later) then go for the house upgrades and get the cheaper, but very usuable tractor.

NH seems to have financing deals every couple months. I used one of those deals to buy my TC40D in July(?) and they had a couple deals since then.

Many of us who use this board view messages under the "Last 24 hours" option that shows all messages regardless of group. We all have different needs, opinions, and color preferences that make different machines the best for any particular person. Its great that you like your Deerekiller but that does not give you the right to belittle the investment that someone else has made or is about to make. We are all here to share what we have learned and to learn from other's experiences.

This confusion is one reason I went with the larger Boomer Series (my wife disliked that pedal config also). I believe that most of the Kubota hydros out there are also configured the same way. The larger Boomer series are like the JD units in that place the brakes on the left side (traditionalists can read this as the "wrong" side) where they are much more useable.

Regarding the PTO: The midmount and rear PTOs are separately controlled. Don't have a belly mower for my TC40D but my dealer told me that they always hook to the midmount PTO. NH belly mowers are not known for being the easiest to remove and put back on, but then it seems that most belly mowers are a pain to remove and put back on...

For what you described as your use I would get the HST trannie. The wet clutch would be better if you were going to have very heavy loads on the trannie for extended periods of time, such as plowing.

Regarding your question about snow blowing, I don't have a snow blower for my TC40D but have a walk behind snow blower. Based on how well that unit performs (8hp and 24" width) if you had a 72" inch blower it would only need 24 pto hp. Of course this can vary depending on the height of snow the blower can handle, how far the second stage blower is designed to throw, and how fast you would like to go. If you tend to have wet snow vs dry snow that will also make for a heavier load.

One other difference, the hydro foot pedals are configured differently. IMHO the 35-45 series is much easier to use due to the difference. My wife liked the compactness of the smaller series but liked the foot pedal configuration of the larger series. We ended up with one of the larger series.

When shopping for a tractor we visited 3 JD dealers and 1 NH dealer. The NH dealer was friendlier, more helpful, and acted like he wanted my business (its nice to feel appreciated). The JD dealers were courteous but did not seem to put out the effort to get my business. Bought the NH.

The NH dealer has been great after the sale. When I needed oil and filters, they delivered them and they are 1.5 hours away. When we bought a toothbar, they delivered it. When I broke a power steering line they came out and replaced it free of charge.

Regarding #1 vs #2 fuel: During the winter the oil dealers in my neck of the woods (northern Illinois) sell a mixed fuel for diesel tractors vs the unmixed during the summer. Some dealers use chemicals instead of mixing. My point is that the other (don't remember which is "normal" diesel) should not be used by itself according to the dealers here who have to deal with temps as low as -20 degrees.

Never priced that config but my local dealer quoted me $21900 for a TC35D w/Supersteer, 17LA loader, R4s, and hydro. The ss option I think is around $1000 and the 17LA is around $300 more leaving a delta of $2600 for the TC35 to TC35D. Seems that the price you are quoted is inline with my dealer here.

Is your 1320 wider than 60 inches? This was the case for the TC40D that I have. NH did not recommend the smaller mowers since they would not extend past the wheels.

Most owners love their equipment. I love my TC40D w/supersteer and 17LA loader. Almost bought the JD4600 until I saw the TC40D.

The NH 17LA loader protrudes further out front from the tractor to allow for the supersteer. This protrusion allows for better visibility of FEL work (combined with the sloped hood) and is the reason for the lower lifting capacity. The lifting capacity was engineered for safety reasons due to increased leverage of the FEL protrusion. Even though the NH 17LA loader lifts "less" it has never had a problem lifting heaping full 72" buckets of gravel, stone, clay, etc.

I did not buy the JD due to reported axle problems (they seem to have resolved the issue now, just check the unit you buy first) and the fact that my wife like the TC series better.

If you are going to use a tractor for mowing there is nothing better than a supersteer. I have a TC40D w/supersteer and love it! Supersteer is not "trouble" and have not had a single problem with it despite very heavy use with a front loader.

Like the other poster said, if the dealer is downplaying supersteer he is probably just trying to move his "outdated" inventory or has their head in the sand and you should find another dealer.

I believe that Bubco.com has them (use as part of their quick hitch system) in a variety of lengths. The cost from Bubco is higher than what Bird mentioned, don't remember the exact figure.
