I can not imagine that you could here it over the noise. I tried the diskman the one day and gave up.
Depending on what you are doing you need to be able to hear what the tractor or implement is doing. ....

For actually running the tractor, they arn't much good, but the way I use a tractor, I'm often parked working on fences, or digging by hand, or whatever, using the tractor when it suits the task and as a wheelbarrow. For those times, a radio comes in very handy. ....

I use a radio with GOOD stero earmuffs. The hiquality earmuffs block out a lot of the offensive noise. Mostly when I'm mowing 3-4 hours of quiet time, soft music and time to contemplate the great things in life.

I also find myself using it lots with the BH.

I do need to upgrade the cheap am/fm that comes in the ready built tractor boxes. ....

I don't keep up as well as I'd like to on what's being offered on new models, but it would'nt surprise me that the next series of 4000 Deeres would offer a factory cab with sound equipment as an option. Our ten series in the seven and eight thousand farm tractors don't have CD, but hey do have tape/am/fm/NOAA weather band. The twenty series offers a CD plus satellite radio. Just an interesting observation, a week or so ago a semi passed me on I-380 between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo Ia. It had three NH compacts that looked to be new tractors. One had no cab, one had a soft side cab, and the third looked like a factory cab. Was that an aftermarket cab, or does NH now offer a cab? Frank. ....

Bose has recently crossed some aircraft tech over to "civilian" use in their Noise-Cancelling headphones. They are active noise cancelling, which means they electronically cancel "unwanted" noises and only allow what you want to hear through-- radio, cd or silence even. I've never tried these, but the aircraft variety work wonderfull! Top $$$ though. ....

Peltor makes a set of ear muff type protection with an AM/FM radio and provision for a plug in to a CD player etc. I am not sure I would want that kind of distraction as I might not hear a problem brewing with my tractor in time to prevent damage or worse. That is a personal use call. ....

I think what she has in mind is to run it when the tractor is parked out where she is working.Sounds like a good way to run the batt down too. ....

for the nh tractor you have three options. First is the all in one unit which looks pretty ugly sells for about $200. Then there is the on nh recommends. It has a brain box which mount under the dash and a wired remote that can mount any where you want it you can use either head phones or out board speakers. It sell for around $350.
Then there is the canopy route. Nh canopies can come with an insert that you can install your own stereo and speakers, but that is about $500 for the canopy and the insert. ....
