I hope I don't get slammed for this question, but I'd really like some honest, straight-forward advice. I'm finally in the market for a new tractor--I'd like roughly 35 PTO HP, FEL, and field and finishing mowers. I've spoken to a few dealers, and they all lay claim to why their tractor is better than the other two. Who really has the best tractors in this HP range? I'm waiting a tractor to simply maintain and landscape my land, as well as other general uses. Thanks so much! (I'm posting this to all three tractor forums--I apologize if it's bad etiquette. Still learning!)

I am not the best to answer this but since no one else took it up. From what I have read here, it sounds like a wash. If you have no previous bias (and money is not a consideration since there seems to be a difference there) Go to all the dealers, sit on them, look at them price them, and see which dealer you like the best. For me it was price, since I work for New Holland/Case it was a no brainer, I get a nice discount.

I have to agree with Brokenarrow. All three will do the job you want, in actuality there are many more then three and you may want to consider the gray market ( Yanmar, Kioti etc etc ) You know the HP range you want. I assume for a particular reason, so that being the case, I would really look at which tractor in that HP is the most comfortable and easy of use ( Location of FEL controls and levers, Are you going to do allot of brush hog/rear attachment work? If so, does the seat swivel?
It will really come down to two things. Your comfort in the seat being number one and numbertwo, once the brand is determined, which dealer is the best, most helpful, HONEST. I make a point here as many dealers will seem courteous and tell you what you want to hear, but is it what you really need or just a sale for them. ask for references, or talk to folks that have or are going to that dealer.

When I got ready to buy, I knew that I was going to be doing alot of FEL work, so location of the FEL controls was very high in my list. I also looked at the lift capacities of the FEL and the 3pt. After deciding on a 35hp class machine, I went to each dealer around here (Kub, Deere, NH) and test drove one. Kubota was ruled out because of the FEL control location, so it was down to Deere and NH. Deere had just come out with the 4410 which gave offered the power reverser that I'd like to have but in the end, it came down to money. I traded in a JD 445 w/FEL and 3pt hitch and 5ft mower deck, and NH offered me more for the trade than JD did, sad I thought. Bottom line was a $2K difference and even though I was a die hard JD man, I couldn't justify the difference considering the NH FEL out lifted the JD FEL by a significant amount.
And even though to this day, I feel like a traitor, I have been very happy with my TC35. ....

Dealer participation in your buying, and the support after the sale is so important. I was sold on NH, really liked the features of the Boomer series, but the Kubota dealer made it happen. Cost and trade was better with Kubota. If the features of the tractor are all equal, it will come down to the dealer that wants your business, and wants to put in the effort to make sure they keep it. ....

I looked at a NH TC35 and TC40 the dealer has Kubota, CaseIH and Mahindra. The only thing that came close in the price of the TC35 4x4 was the Mahindra 4500. Both are priced at 14,500. ....

It is important for you to be comfortable with your dealer as well as the tractor. There is far more to this then just buying a car or truck as they have less varied uses. Look at the features and figure out what you needs are to do the tasks that you want to do and how you want to accomplish them. Figure out what attachments you will need, the size of them that are needed to the jobs in a fair time. Look at the basics, don't worry about the twenty post holes you might want to drill some day. If you don't have enough need for a backhoe purchase now chances are you won't make the purchase! ....

So you like your tc35? I was bubbleing over the 35 and the 40 and went for the 40.
Dont feel bad about jumping ship, turn that feeling around, they let you down!!!!!
Our contract at CNH is always right behind deers or so it seems. The word always is, "we get what JD gets and NO MORE" If that is the case, we cnh workers make no more than JD why is their tractor more $$$ ? Maybe because they have a very loyal following? and they can get away with it? Or maybe they do make a better tractor (to each is own you know?) All I can say it that you should not feel like you let them down on the other hand they may have let you down by making it too easy to pick anouther color $$$$$. I can see a thousand dollars dif. to stay with your brand, but if your comparing apples to apples and there is a 2K difference I personelly would make the same choice you did. It was easy for me, I get a slight discount on New Holland but I can tell you if the deere would of been 2k less I would of jumped ship that way too!
No offense to any other poster here on color or in my speculation of price and quality. Everone has a different dealer and a different reason for what they choose and I respect all choices.

Its funny, I told the JD salesman I'd give him $1000 for the 4410, because I was loyal to JD and they had the power reverser and a better quick attachment for the FEL, but the jerk just muttered no and started shuffling papers. So, I stood up, and told him he just lost a customer to NH and walked out, went over to NH and bought one.
I had an occasion last week to speak with the owner of that JD store after he commented that I'd look better on green, I tolt him what had happened and said if his salesman hadn't been a greedy jerk and worked with me, I would still be on Green. ....

I'll tell you that I would spend more time shopping for a dealer if I had to do it over again. I can never get my JD dealer to call back - even when I give him the part number I want and I just want a price, or question about warranty extension. They are always too busy to call back. As was discussed in this forum, I would look to where the local farmers go - and in this area I think it may be the NH dealer. ....
