You are right about wood. Seems like I can remember an incident where a broken stick on a tree stump went into the radiator of a tractor when I was a kid!

Also about charging more to take into account repairs. I need to do that, but right now I am trying to break into the market. I will keep my fingers crossed nothing major breaks in the near future.

Bvance - Geez, another tractor guy stuck in the world of business :) EW - I always feel better after reading your posts. Maybe we should create a new forum called "Late Night Tractor Psychiatry". Or how about "Tractor Philisophy"? You know, subjects like how many of you have actually bought a small toy replica of your big tractor? I must say though that being a dummy has its advantages. Once you accept that you are a dummy there is no place to go but up. And if one accepts the fact that there are dummies then there must be experts ;)

When setting up wireless on my laptop I made the mistake of calling my wireless network by my family name. Then after I got all set up (including encryption - it takes some effort but do it.) I realized that everyone can see my signal and know which house it is coming from. (After I myself went around scouting out signals around me.) They can't tap into it but I still don't like people knowing which signal is mine.

KT, I figure for $125 a year for an annual inspection on one hand, and freezing risk on the other - I am willing to take the risk. No more risk than any house has of freezing pipes when the power goes out. I have seen the damage that freezing pipes can do with a place we once rented out. The tenant had the utilities and stopped heating the place.

Harvey, you are right about the way green mounts on green. When I put the 47 on it's like one continuous part of the tractor. It is perfectly tight, no looseness anywhere.

I would think that 1000 lb weight difference would make a big difference. I would go for the heavier weight if you want to use a grapple and extract trees. The more weight, the less you will have a wheel in the air when you are pulling and lifting this stuff out of the ground.

I am willing to give Iraq this last ditch effort requested by their leader before announcing withdrawal. Hardwood, that is a tough one. Most of our gardens are in my pics 1,2,4,17 plus we spray a few plants for our neighbors. Maybe 2000-2500 square feet total after you figure that we only spray the soft leaf plants like lillies, hosta, rhododendrons etc. And we don't spray in inaccessible areas (behind steep stone walls, etc) or the alberta spruce or blue spruce. And my wife is very sparing with the hand sprayer. We use 1 - 1 1/2 gallons per year. You may need several gallons per year depending on how you spray the stuff on. I went to the web site and don't see any coverage data - probably because it varies so much.

I would say we apply it about 5 times per year. Once with first new growth, maybe a week later during fast growth, then every 2 weeks for 3 more applications. Once plants reach full growth you are done - it lasts the rest of the season. One thing to note - once you spray this stuff for a year or two you will notice that the deer will get "trained" to stay away from your gardens. But they will test every now and then. If you don't apply it when necessary and they happen to come by and test - you will lose your most recent uncoated areas of the plant - usually your flowers or fruit :(

You might want to try a gallon and see how it works for you first. Be aware that this stuff leaves tiny white dots on the leaves that give the leaves a whitish hue (strongest immediately after application).

Wow! Some real expert opinions here! Yes a buddy of mine rented a walk behind powered aerator. He said it did a fine job. It was a manhandler though. And of course inconvenient and pricey for one time use. KT, I had thought about a "cut off" set of tines for my tiller. I understand sometimes they sell special aerator tines for tillers but I haven't located any that would fit my Troy Bilt. That would be ideal since I haven't really used my tiller for much lately. Hardwood, your knowledge in this area is great. Thanks all for your comments!

Its definitely illegal to place flyers in a mailbox. Attaching flyers to the outside of a mailbox is a question - definitely illegal if someone can argue that you have defaced or damaged the mailbox. Attaching flyers to a mailbox post is legal. Attached link cites some USPS rulings a few posts down the list.

I was curious about this one because my neighborhood went around and attached flyers to mailboxes a while back when they were fighting a large nursing home complex complete with shopping mall which was being considered up the road.

It was 67 degrees here today. I had to take my jacket off as if it was spring. It was a nice day to fix the lights on my utility trailer. From what I have read we need a deep freeze to keep the soil and insects in check for the upcoming "warmer" season. Maybe its time to buy a couple of palm trees for the lawn.
