I was thinking about my upcoming trip to visit the top three dealers and making my wish list. At that point came the Tires. Most of my use of my new tractor will be yard and landscaping around the new home. So I thought Turf Tires, but then I have my horse pasture ( Currently very muddy ) and then when winter comes the need for traction to plow. AG Tires.. My Question is this, Do they make chains for the CUT Tires? If So, is anyone currently using turf tires for the lawn and general use and then putting on Chains in the pasture and the winter? If so, how well is this working? Any other ideas on how to not tear up my realatively new lawn and still get the traction I need when the pasture is muddy or the snow is deep?

I had turfs on my old B-7200 and would go with chains in the winter and I was able to move the snow we had last year which was about 30" with only a rear blade. The problem I ran into was the wet spring we had, I got stuck a few times in the mud even with 4X4 while mowing. Had to pull it out with a bigger tractor. I went with the R-4's as a sort of compromise with not tearing up the yard and getting better traction, but I also got the chains for winter. I like the R-4s because they are a heavier tire and seem sturdier. I have noticed that when it is wet out in 4X4 it will mark the yard if going a little to fast when turning. I tried sending you an e-mail but it didn't work. ....

The only place Ag tires are of any possible use would be on the muddy pasture, and then only when it was muddy.
Ag's are the worst choices for lawns and plowing snow.
I think you are on the right track with turfs and chains (if and when you need them). Chains can be had for virtually any size tire and many CUT tires cross over into automotive sizes.
You didn't say which tractor brands or models you are looking at, but another option might be R-4 Industrial tires..... although in recent postings they don't seem to perform any better than turfs in mud. ....

If you want to minimize tread bar marks on your lawn, it is tough to beat turf tires. They don't do all that bad in reasonable amounts of mud and soft ground. Chains are expensive and somewhat of a pain in the butt to install and remove. I had a set on a Cub 154 Lo Boy. I just did the best I could with the turfs and left the chains alone. R-4 tires are a good compromise between the two. They don't do as well as either in their respective categories but do pretty well across a broad range of applications. The wide bars and width of the R-4's don't leave much of a mark but are not best in mud but much better than turfs. If the great percentage of your use will be on turf, go with turfs but expect to pay a hefty price for a good set of chains for occasional use if needed. I stored my chains in a 5 gal. bucket which I poured motor oil in to keep the chains from rusting. I have R-4's and am very happy with their performance. ....

Chief, if he is chaining up a 4110, B7500 or similar class of tractor, he should be able to get chains at any auto parts store.
That class of tractor uses a 15, 16 or 16.5 inch rim, just like a pick-up truck. ....

Mark has a good point. I am not sure what size tractor you have decided on yet but here is a link to figure chain prices and types of chain. I like the V bar ladder chain. ....

I am going to take a serious look at that NH1725, but I think I have pretty much narrowed down to Blue and if the 1725 does not pan out ( Won't haggle price ) I am going to take the leap to new and way out the option between the TC 29D and TC33D with FEL. All in all it sounds like the Turf is going to be my best bet. Although the pasture is muddy. Looking at how deep the horse sinks ( which it not much for a 1200lb Warm blood ) I am thinking there is a preety good base of hard clay and rock under the top soil. So Turf will probably be it. Although I will take a look at the R4's
Thanks for the help. Although I have played my share on a tractor on farms. I have never had to make all these choices for myself. I just used what the Farmer said. ....

I went with the 2 link chains since I got the R-4 tires for the 7800 and they were $265 per the pair. I probably could have gotten them cheaper somewhere else, but I just got everything together there as a package. ....
