1) All BX models: Check the sheet metal band the holds the air cleaner housing. Mine suffered metal fatigue and snapped in two. Although I made a warranty claim and have new parts coming, I repaired it by slightly modifying the bracket and re-attaching the air cleaner housing with a large hose clamp. I might just leave it that way as it seems stronger than the factory arrangement.

2) If you have a BX22, run a water hose into the hollow outrigger legs on the backhoe when you are cleaning the tractor. Every time I raise the legs while working I get a hand full of dirt and small rocks that slide in there and it builds up after a while.

Mark, a good point about preventative maintenance with cavities on equipment, 'out of sight, out of mind' can get expensive.

We had an open web on the stabilizers of a large TLB that we used to have, the maintenance guy almost completely solved the problem of dirt getting in by fastening a thick rubber flap, cut from a peice of conveyor belting, over the opening with Tek Screws (screws with a built-in drill point). It was stiff enough to keep dirt out, but did not make enough of a seal to allow corrosion to occur.

Best of luck. ....

Thanks Mark, I might add check your seat bolt. Mine is lost, must have loosened up from turning the seat around. When I lifted my seat the last time to check the transmission fluid the seat came off in my hands. ....
