I wanted to take a little time to personally thank all you veterans and your families out there both past and present, for your service and your sacrifice to what I believe is the greatest country on earth, and the last best hope for mankind.
Although I have never served, my oldest brother served in the Navy during the vietnam war, and was one of the lucky ones that came home and is still among us. My father served in the Air Force during World War II where when stationed in London he met my mother. Mom was also in the fight and served in the British Auxiliary Territorial service. She was a plane spotter and worked the lights, where she had been strafed and had the bullet wounds in her leg to prove it. Can you just imagine the pride I feel when I see those brave britts standing and fighting with us in this most recent fight in Iraq.
It is my greatest goal to live my life and to raise my family is such a way that makes me worthy of their and your service and sacrifice.
May your God bless you and keep you, and from this humble american Thank you.

Thank You homedad5acre. I was unfortunate enough to serve in combat 69-70 under leadership that dictated battles from the White house. I stayed in saw the changes being made and saw the results in 90-91.

You can not believe the pride that swells up with-in with the current administration and the service men and women serving.

These youngsters today are truley some of the best educated, best trained, most motivated and professional people our nation has ever sent into harms way.

Thanks again Harvey ....

The AVFW were in town on Thursday handing out poppies. I am not sure the younger generations in the US understand why. The lives lost and the sacrifices made were summed up in a short poem by a Canadian field surgeon in WW I.

In Flanders Fields
by John MacRae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Good show old boy and well put. Who could have imagined a day like 911. It is humbeling to see our national pride perk up and I personally feel that The Presidents speech on a Aircraft carrier was the most amazing reward that could have ever been granted our armed forces next to the satisfaction of a Job well Done ! ....
