Has anyone had experience with the Kubota or Curtis soft sided cab on a 2910? I was wondering how tall it is when installed and if the heater is needed to prevent the window from fogging. Since my barn is not yet heated, I need to keep the tractor in my insulated garage for a few years during the snow plowing season to facilitate starting. It is a standard opening, I believe around seven feet high.

Don't know about cabs, except that I always start thinking about one this time of year when I'm looking at another winter of putting my face to the snow blower chute (no choice when the wind is from certain directions). I'm just taking a guess that a cab would be about the same height as the ROPS. My garage overhead door is about 6" shy of my ROPS, which is why I ended up with an arctic shelter enclosure. For me, a shelter is more important for any maintenance and tinkering that might be necessary than for starting. The tractor starts better than I do in the winter. Oh man, I just don't want to think about wrapping my hand around a wrench in windy 0F weather. With due regard for safety, the shelter can be warmed with a propane heater. I think there are some cigarette lighter heaters for cars that might be good for keeping unheated cab windows clear. ....

If it's of any assistance, I used to keep a Kubota L3450 in my garage at home, it was an open-station machine and the ROPS bar cleared the standard garage door opening (~7' high) by only a smidgen (technical term). In fact, it was so close that if there was a buildup of ice in the door it would hit the door, I finally extended the track by a foot so that it could roll up a little farther, this bought me an extra 3", making the wife MUCH happier (because I wasn't hitting the door, easy fellas....LOL). I must guess that anything, even a canopy will raise the requirement even further. Best of luck. ....

Thank you Murf. I can measure the clearance with the roll bar up, I haven't done that yet. I was just wondering if the Kubota soft cab ends up higher than the rops. The web sites really don't tell much. ....

Cutter I have one set up on display lot, the height is just under 78" high. The heater will help with defrosting the windows. In our area some of the customers will also put on small fans to help clear the side windows to. ....

You are the best Art, thank you. I am going out to measure now, I assume that would be the Kubota brand cab. What is involved in installing a heater? Is that something Kubota offers, or an after market unit? ....

By the way Tom, the barn should work well for the maintenance work, even unheated and unlit. I am going to run some romex to it on top of the ground for the winter. With that I can run my salamander and limited lighting. I also have a propane heater, 250,000 btu. It sucks down a bottle of propane so fast ice forms on it. I can imagine using it in a large building, it would probably be cheaper to have someone else do the work! ....

Cutter, thats a Curtis Cab with soft sides. The hard side is also the same height. This cab stands the same height as the hard side cab. The cab is about the same height as a fixed roll bar but is far lower than the fold down. The heater needs to have coolent from the front of the engine. For the installation of the heater first time should be no more than three hours for the first time. Should be done in an hour by a tech. There is no cab from Kubota offered for this tractor. ....

I thought I saw a soft sided cab on the Kubota site, it must have been for a different model. I like to stick to the brand name when I buy options, but if none is available for the 2910 that kind of takes care of that, so they say. Thanks again for all the information Art. ....

Cutter the only cab that Kubota makes is the factory cabs. They do make it a point to let all dealers know of aftermarket cabs that are available. ....
