Wanting to work on my Back Pack Blower, carb is discontinued on my Old Redmax Blower. So I thought I would try to figure out whats wrong with it. Anyone know of a decent DIY approach or an inexpensive one that works. Most of the ones i see seem to be junk or too expensive.

Several things to try yourself. Take it off and soak it. I use Gunk or Berryman in a 1 gal can. Comes with a dipping screen. Also maybe the Gumout spray. If you can't find any replacement parts and you are handy you can make a new gasket and find an O ring that is comparable. Purge bulbs are pretty standard. You might also try a product called Mechanic in a Bottle. It will clean out the gummy residue old fuel. Once you clean it and have a compressor, then blow it out good and use fresh fuel. Don't forget to check all the rest of the important stuff like spark plug, coil gap, and fuel delivery. When it starts up you will feel great. Good Luck

I think the rebuild kit is till available for the Walbro 112 carb but I was hesitant to try that. I may follow your idea as a first shot to see if I can get it to run better without creating more issues with the rebuild. ....

I have heard that a cheaper alternative to Berryman is Pine Sole 50 percent with water is a good carb soak. But Pine Sole says not to use on Aluminum, so you takes your chances to save some coin. ....
