I think the rebuild kit is till available for the Walbro 112 carb but I was hesitant to try that. I may follow your idea as a first shot to see if I can get it to run better without creating more issues with the rebuild.

Underneath the front on the seat is a small lever - left down slow - right down fast - try moving the lever

Change Hydraulic fluid up ok down slow
