Do you have any idea if your linkage is adjusted correctly? Does these two gears use the same shift slot? Could there be trash or such in it to prevent full shifting? ....

I have heard of this happening on units that don't get much use.
All linkages are ok, and it seems it's related more to how many gears it needs to change at once than anything else. If you go from 2 to 6 directly it happens, if you go to 3, then wait a second, go to 4, wait a second, go to 5, etc., etc., it doesn't seem to happen the same at all. It also seems to be avoided if you go straight to say 6, then after a moment go back down to 5.
I believe the problem is internal to the tractor, not the external linkages.
I do know however that on all our units that got used a lot, it never occurred.
Best of luck. ....
