I posted yesterday on pricing for Kubotas. Now I have it narrowed down but need input.
1997 B7300 HST, 16HP, 4WD, FEL, Rear Blade, Rear/Mid PTO, 686 hrs BUT NO POWER STEERING. $7900.00
1993 B2150, Manual Tranny, 24HP, 4WD, FEL, Power Steering 1100 hours, $7500.00
So, do I go with more HP and Power Steering and give up the HydroStat, or take the Hydrostat a few less HP and live with no power steering? It has a rear blade and I can always add weight to make it steer better right? Thoughts? Also, there is a 3-hours driving distance which adds to the dilemna. I think I'm sold on the non Power Steering but my dad disagrees.....HELP!

I'm with your dad on this one.
The difference in hours is minor, not having power steering with a FEL is major.
You'll never regret the extra horsepower.
The hydro you can live without, I'm on my third compact without hydro and if I traded tomorrow it wouldn't be a hydro.

Thanks Frank. Going to look a tractor #2 in the morning. Appreciate the feedback. Heard some horror stories about guys hitting stumps while driving loaded up and breaking their hand cause the wheel spun around. Not fun. Hope it all works out tomorrow... ....

From a person with very limited FEL experience: between the two tractor believe the power steering is important if doing a lot of fel work. If you are doing real shot drive up and back ups for fel would like the HST but really believe manual steering would be worst than the manual trans would be. At same time not sure how much it is but my understanding is the HST does use some hp compared to the manual trans so for me two reasons here to go with the manual trans tractor you mention. ....

You don't choose in a vacuum; it's a matter of what you'll use it for. Diesel fuel is costly and fewer horses drink less. But if the bigger one will do the work in one day instead of two, ....
Did you find if you can get add-on PS if you found it worthwhile? Should cost under a thousand. Will you use that rear blade? Aren't all Kubotas 4WD?
You could make them both an offer that you gradually raise and let the sellers decide who wants the money more. ....

I don't think the rear blade is very useful. Will need a Dirt Box and Tiller later. Yeah, a quote for a new one with FEL, Dirt Box, and Tiller is over $16K. I figure I can buy this one for 7-7500, buy a box and tiller later, and PS kit if needed. Thanks for your help. Will post tomorrow what I decide with pics. ....

If you mean a box blade when you refer to a dirt box then yes you will find a box blade to be very usefull and also a great counterweight for the FEL
The normal configuration of my tractor is having the FEL mounted and the box blade on the three point 99% of the time. You will find yourself using the FEL almost every day, mine has never been off the tractor since it was new.
Your feelings about a rear blade are correct, unless the soil has been loosened by the box blade ripper teeth or some ohter method the little three point blades aren't heavy enough to do much, I had one and sold it.

Neither one in my opinion. Way, way too much money especially for something that old. My neighbor bought a 2005 New Holland 22hp, 4x4 with loader and mid mount mower and back blade for $6900 in perfect condition. In 2002 I paid $13,500 for my 2002 new New Holland 33hp hydro with all the bells and whistles---hydro, power steering, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, supersteer, 4x4, suspended seat, light package, R4 tires, deluxe hitch arms, cruise control.
I'd be surprised if either one is worth half the asking price.
My suggestion: buy new with a warranty, put that big money down on the new one to lower your payments to the $75 a month bracket. ....

No all Kubotas are not 4 wheel drive. Might be true in some models but not all. ....
