Hello; My name is Dennis and I live in NW Nebraska. I just bought a 2006 B7510 With 62 hours on it. The guy I bought it from had not had it service at 50 hours. As we live 1 hour away from the nearest dealer. I am able to do routine maint. Is there a different oil and tranny fluid, filters I can get here locally to to replace the Kabota brand? This would also save me an hour trip. Thanks Dennis

Did you get the manuals with the tractor? If so the specs on both fluids and the capacities are in there. If you did get the manuals there are a good read. ....

Dennis;
Some will disagree, but the builders of our little and big for that matter tractors do recommend their brand of fluids and filters in the given brand tractor that anyone of us has.
Some will say it is just a marketing ploy to sell their fluids which are usually more expensive than typical fleet store offerings, but I disagree.
The builders of any brand tractor, Deere, Kubota, or any brand want their tractors to perform the best they are capable of and last a long time without breakdowns, that's called building customer base.
Most any brand tractor will have specific additives in their transmission fluids to match their wet brakes, wet clutches, winter operations, on and on.
I think the hour drive for the real stuff is well worth the time.
I've been to your part of Nebraska several times and enjoyed every one of them, an hour drive to you folks is just next door.
Frank. ....

Yes I got the manuals but I do not recall seeing anything about alternate Filters or oils that could be used. But I will look again. It is a Diesel can motor oil like at Carquest Napa be used and can a sub. oil and tranny filter from them be used? These are they questions I have. I would make life easier for me if you could. Have you used any of these things from a parts store? Thanks Dennis ....

Frank; Thanks for the reply. That is one question I never thought to ask is about any additives that make them there on special oil. I am now leaning on going to the dealer. Thanks Dennis ....

If you will look in your manual it will give you the specs the fluids must meet. My Kubota manuals read something along the line: Kubota oil or fluid so and so or must meet specs so and so. Been a while but those specs are in a chart form and beleive are in the capacity section of the manual. If you don't see them just take your manual with you. Taking the manual with you may solve any further question that could come up when you get there. Call your local people with the specs and they should be able to match them. As to my Kubotas they have had either Rotella or I think Castro brand engine oil in them since first oil change if memory is correct. As to the brand oil I have stayed with major brand but just matching specs. I do use Kubota filters. On a different brand, Volvo the specs on their oil puzzled my dealer who went to great effort to be sure on the specs. Turned out to be a odd way of given the specs that he had not seen before but was a very normal hyd oil.

No idea on your transmission but some will dump the fluid rather quickly. You will do wise to know the amount in there and be ready with drain pan to handle it. On one of my Kubota's drop the hyd oil filter first and be ready for a flood. ....

I have gotten the eng. oil and filer changed. The next question I have is where is the transmission drain plug located? Is there 2 plugs. I see 2 flat headed bolt looking on each side of the tranny could they be the drain plugs. The owner manual only shows the regular style plug for the 7510 DTN and the 7510TN. one on the mid pto shaft housing and one futher back. My 2008 B7510 HST does not have these. So I'm looking at these flat headed bolts or plugs as the drains. Are they the drain plugs? Also I have 2 filters mounted on the tranny one on each side. Looking from the front of the tractor I believe the one on the left side is the tranny filter. From the picture in my owners manual it appears the tranny strainer is mounted just to the rear of the filter is that correct? If so what is the filer on the right side? Is it the fuel filter? Need help before I continue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dennis ....

I'd like to help, but I'm a green person so I won't speculate on what means what in your owners manual.
There ae lots of people here who have Kubotas who can give some specifics so I'll leave that to them.

Frank; Thanks good to know I'm not alone. I think I've figured out the drain plugs. There are 3 of them and they look like a regular 3/8's bolt. One on the right side of the mid PTO Spline ( looking from the front of tractor ). Then there are 2 others on what I would call the rear axle. One on each side facing the inside of the wheel. But I'm still confused about the 2 filters one on each side of the Transmission. So I will wait till I hear from someone that can explain them to me before I start draining oil. So far This has been a great site for me. Thanks Dennis ....

I think if you log into Messicks they have a guide with pictures. It covers the complete fluid change.

http://www.messicks.com/tractorservice.aspx

Try this site it is a great source. They also do online parts if you need things shipped to your house.

This is a great site with all of the help you will need.

Post if you have more questions.

Cheers,

RD ....

Same is true for Ford, GM, Toyota, etc. and it's be shown over may decades that using consumables other than those sold by the manufacturer has no impact on the longevity of the engine, assuming recommended grade of oil is used.

Looking at the Operator's Manual for my B7510, the Lubricants table calls for API Service Classification of CD, CE or CF and various weights and viscosity using SAE specifications. What is missing from the table is any reference to Kubota branded oil. Instead they refer to industry specification such and API and SAE and as such any oil that meets the stated specifications is approved by Kubota for use in Kubota engines.

The only Kubota branded consumable referenced is Kubota Super UDT fluid for use in the transmission case and the front axle, but the manual indicates that SAE 80 or SAE 90 gear oil can be use for the front axle case in place of the Kubota consumable.

Knowing that Kubota sanctions the use of non-Kubota branded consumables means that you don't need to drive to the dealership, which can be many miles away. For me the closest Kubota dealer is 40 miles away. So, to get the needed oil is an 80 mile drive round trip and ~90 minutes. If my car/truck gets 20 mpg then Kubota branded oil is costing you, assuming $4 per gallon, $16 in gas. One gallon of Shell Rotella T oil, which matches the Kubota recommendation, is on sale at Autozone for $17.99 and lucky for me their is an Autozone much closer to me, and I suspect that for many of you an auto parts store closer than the dealer.

From the Kubota FAQ, http://www.kubotaengine.com/support/faq.html

Q: I can't find diesel-rated 10W30. Can I use 15W40?
A: Yes, many of our customers use 15W40 engine oil in their Kubota diesels. Just make sure whatever oil you use has an API rating of CF or higher.

Q: Can I use synthetic oil in my Kubota engine?
A: Kubota recommends oil with an API rating of CF or higher. If the synthetic oil meets those standards, it can be used in Kubota engines. ....
