I have a kubota b2320 with a FEL and fixed bucket. Now and then I need to move piles of cleared branches and undergrowth ready to be burnt. At present I use a truck tie down strap under the pile, and strap the load to the bucket. Other times I have placed some short lengths of timber vertically in the bucket and piled the material in by hand. I do not have the use for a specialized grabber and was thinking along the lines of a couple of metal forks which could be quickly and easily attached to the bucket. Has anyone done anything along these lines and what do others do in this situation. I have quite a large pile of cleared material waiting for me down in my farm paddock.
I don't really want to drill holes in the bucket, if possible, tho I do have a welder.

Oh ya. You might not want to go through as much work, but here's what I did.

To each outside surface of my bucket I welded a bar-holder (picture a single-cigar case but square). Into each fits a 1" square, 3' metal bar (surveyer stake).

I drilled a small hole through the bar and holder so I can easily insert a pin to keep the bar from falling out. I made a holder for the bars so I carry them with me when they're not attached to the bucket.

With a very heavy load placed on the bars, especially toward their front, they can bend where they exit the holder, so I put a close-fitting 6" length of square tubing closely adjacent to the holder, and welded that onto the bar.

I can use the fronts of the bars to go under a cut tree and lift it so I don't have to dismount to load it. But my bucket curls and dumps, and I don't know how your static one works. But I can't tell you how many full-length trees I've moved. Sometimes there's such a load that I can't see where I'm going and have to stand up. ....

Along the lines of auer's idea and yours, buy 4 or 6 clamp-on forks. It will be a PIA to remove and install them when you want to switch back to the bucket but you could weld a bar along the backs of the forks to connect them making installation quick since they're already aligned. I made a similar device for my backhoe loader out of 1" square bar (think a big steel grate) that slipped over the cutting edge and under the bucket and held by ratchet straps. I could pick up and move 5 yards at a time. Eventually I sold the whole unit and now have a skidsteer with a grapple bucket. I move cars with it now. ....

On a fifty inch bucket two add on forks would add a lot of surface area to carry the limbs but you are still caught with virtually a hand fill just twice to three times the load! ....

Thanks for the replies and ideas.
I have been looking for clamp on forks as suggested. I am from Australia so Paynes Forkes is not really applicable. The dealer I purchased the tractor from doesn't carry them as he reckons there is a safety issue. A local tool supplier has some (most likely Chinese), but they are quite heavy (900kg capacity). Apparently there are lighter 450kg, (1000 lbs), versions available, which may be suitable . My bucket is pretty thin steel and I wouldn't put the heavy units on it as they would probably damage the bucket. I had a look at the Paynes website, and yes they look good and would most likely do the job. I will keep looking for a local supplier. The chinese units would suit a bobcat with a heavy commercial bucket.
Regards ....
