Most of the older units used a front PTO system to run the powered attachments.
The newer B series would use the mid PTO to run mid and front attachments. ....

Like most things in my life-I've screwed up what the model was.
The machine I'm considering buying is a B7100. It has a mid power take off. The only attachment that comes with the machine is a 4' rotary mower. I was interested in a getting a MMM. My local dealer says Kubota no longer makes a replacement mower.
Saw on Craig's list a MMM that's currently on a L225. My question was about whether this mower would work on the B7100.

I figured out from Kubota's site the 5-6 diff mower deck models that would work on my B7100. It appears that they no longer have replacement mowers and I'll have to find a used one. Thanks

Front, mid, or rear mmowers all have advantages. But if each didn't have disadvantages too, there's be only one kind on the market.
The easiest to fit and the cheapest is the rear. So why don't you get one, and if the right mid comes along, the rear should be easy to sell. ....

Using it to mow around Christmas trees. I guess I'm under the impression that a MMM will be a bit more maneuverable than something on the rear. Currently mow with Gravely walk behind so this is something new for me.

The mid makes the whole unit shorter and thus more agile, but you can back a rear right under a tree. But for your application, nothing touches a zero-turn with a mid or better a front-mount. ....

Having a RFM on small tractor and zero turn with mid mower deck totally agree with Auerbach recommendation of a front mounted mower deck. Heep rather have than deck under me keeping me as far away from limbs as possible. You may not need a zero turn depending on your cut pattern. I have no problem running right by tress with my RFM and if the tractor has hydrostat transmission very easy to slow just as your mower gets to it. You may be very well served by a rear discharge RFM keeping both sides of the deck where you can cut close to the trees. I would think keeping clear of lower limbs would limit the body size of the machine and would think mower would have smaller body and tires than even a compact tractor. ....
