I just came across your posts on the Duerr chipper/shredder. I have an 8 hp model 678 and I am the original owner. I have had it since 1994 and it still runs great. I also have the original owner’s manual for it. If anyone still needs info on this unit, let me know. I originally bought it from Northern Hydraulics. I can copy the owner’s manual if anyone needs it.

BTW, that fellow, graybeard50 that said he had it, only posted here 40 times in total, and the last time he was here was more than a year ago.
I wouldn't hold your breath on getting a reply, it looks like 6 or 7 others have asked also, with no indication they got it.

Attachments like rototillers and wood chippers are simple, straightforward, and standardized in design, those from offshore tend to have no or rudimentary manuals. I've worked on several whose owners had manuals but I didn't need them.
Removing blades is as routine as changing spark plugs. Expose the fastners, get the right tool(s), and don't scrape your knuckles. Most blades are reversible to expose a new cutting edge. If you need new ones and can't find the maker, a tractor shop can likely source them or a metal shop can duplicate them.
If you're not a wrench-spinner, any small-engine or mower shop should be able to get you going. ....

I bought a different chipper. See the following post after yours. The poster makes it sound simple. My recollection of the machine in question seems to need to remove LOTS of bolts to even get close to the blades. Either he or I am confused on which machine we are talking about.

I found my owner's manual but I cannot see a part number for the carb. If you want a copy of the manual, I would be happy to send it or fax it to you. I am not sure how useful it will be though. I bought my unit used as well (10 years ago!) and apparently the original documentation had an engine manual as well which gave instructions on how to adjust the carburetor. I cannot find that copy in my "manual" file and I don't remember if I ever had it. In any case, you might want to try Outdoor Power Products in Spokane at 509-536-6069. This is the contact number for replacement parts which can be found at the back of the Owner's Manual. I hope this helps!

I'm in a similar situation as a lot of other people in that I bought this chipper used and I can't find a manual anywhere.
Can you give me any insight as to how to remove the rotor with the blades and hammers on it. I was able to get the center bolt out but can see how the get the rotor itself off. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Recieved Duerr 678. Came from small engine scrap heap, dead enging but fairly good frame. I need a parts breakdown and/or service manual so I can open this unit up and evaluate its worthyness.
If it is worth buying a Honda engine and refurbing rest of machine i will do so., or it will become parts .
