Does anyone know of a source for a locking fuel cap for a L35 TLB? I have a 94 model and I guess there are some desperate characters around my neighborhood because they siphoned my tank dry. Glad I caught it before I ran out of fuel. None of the parts stores can match me up with a locking cap. Thanks, Tom

Don't think I'd drill into a fuel tank, but theoretically, you could put a hole through the cap and filler pipe, and insert one of those key-locking pins that prevent a trailer from being detached. Or visit a seller or user of heavy equipment. Haven't studied them, but they have fuel cap locks. Still, theft can become vandalism, so you might consider an intruder alarm system. ....

hehehehe ever seen the fake Campbell's soup can or a hollowed-out book that are really a small safe or hiding place?
Make a thin, inconspicuous drop-in tube that fits nicely in the filler neck (it needs to stay in place so that it doesn't float up and out when the cap is removed). Just put enough fuel in the tube--(a half a cup) to make them think the tank is nearly empty. When they go to siphon out all they'll get is air from inside the tube.
Oh, and patent is pending! ....

Tom, unfortunately even a half-wit won't be slowed down by a locking gas cap.
All you need to do is put a funnel beneath the water separator open the valve or pull the fuel line off and point it into the container and voila, free diesel!!
EW's idea will work, but is lots of fussing. A "trail cam" of the type designed for hunting sites is a cheap, easy and usually very successful method of stopping unwanted visitors. It's pretty hard to deny a photograph, and once caught there usually very little repeat offenders.
I had problems with gasoline disappearing a few years back, a well placed 5 gallon can full of high octane aviation gas put a quick end to the thefts, and the two engines it was poured into as well. A local father & son lost very expensive 2 stroke 4 wheeler engines, and the father lost his riding mower motor too. Prior to the 'incident' the father had denied his son had anything to do with the rash of siphoned tanks in the area.
