How critical is using motor oil designed for Diesel engines as opposed to regular oil. I was reading an earlier post and I realized that I just changed my oil this weekend and used Valvoline 10w30, should I replace it?

There are some real engine experts who I think will support this; yes, today. There is a reason for the different grades of oil. Also watch the grade of diesel oil you use. kt ....

Don't worry to much about it but I'd be looking at changing it out a little sooner. Gas engine oil doesn't have as much ash in it to absorb the by products of partially burnt fuel from a cold running diesel. I know many tractors don't get enough hours on them to justify changing a couple of times a year but I'd worry more when it starts to get cold. ....

OK will change again in the fall, thanks to all for the help. One thing I found when I went to change the filter. I had to remove a brace used for the FEL to access the screene covering the filter, a pain, but do-able ....
