I have a JD 4210 with hard cab that doesn't appear to be heating properly. Although I do obtain warm air, it is not sufficient to keep all windows from icing (though the weather here ranges from below zero to 30 degrees during winter). I got input from a previous post on an owner with a different model (though similiar) changing his thermostat from 160 to 190 degrees. The big question, does anybody know what comes with the 4210 by default? The part number is M801088 from John Deere's web site but I've not been able to determine what temp it is set for.

I'd ask a JD dealership. There are a number of them in the U.P. (Marquette, Houghton, Escanaba if you are on that side). I thought allot of guys put auxillary heaters in. That size engine doesn't put out that much heat. Assume you are allowing the tractor to warm-up for 5-10 minutes before doing any work. It still isn't working that hard to remove snow and get it really warm. Are the side covers nice and tight to capture and draw the heat back? ....

Yooperpete - thanks for the reply and I am in Mqt County. I do have a hard Curtis cab with the auxillary water heater and have heard that the tractor is not working hard enough to heat up. My expectations may have been to high on the heater. I'll get the dealer feedback. ....

The service manual says the stat should begin to open at 157-163 degrees F and be fully open at 185 degrees F. ....

Check were the water is taken from on the eng and but foam pipe insul around the heater hoses long hoses loose alot of heat on the way to the heater. Have the same trouble with forklifts when wwe put heat in them. ....

Considering you have a DI engine you can run a 180° to 190° T stat. But what I found on my 2210 is that when the ambient is below 10° or so the rad fan moves so much air that it is supercooling the block so the engine temp wouldn’t go above 132°. So I made an aluminum plate with several 2” holes in it and put it in place of the radiator screen. Now the coolant temp runs between 170° and 180° and the heat output is much better. ....
