While using my 48 BH on my 4310 I had a hydraulic hose burst on me. Upon replacing the hose, I assume i'll have to replace the lost fluid. According to the manual, the tranny and hydraulic fluid seem to be one in the same(?). Is this correct? Secondly, anyone know roughly the cost to replace a hose on a JD 48 Backhoe? Thanks.

Take the broken hose to the nearest hydraulic shop and pay $40 to get it replicated.
If you go to the dealer you may need a financing plan and might wait a month. ....

The hyd. fluid for the hoe and the trans. are indeed the same and should just be a matter of topping off the fluid. Replacing the hose should be something you can do if you have the correct wrenchs. Remove the hose and take it to a hyd. shop and have them duplicate it and then reinstall. Just of matter of working the control circuit of the replaced hose back and forth for several repetitions to purge the air from the circuit and then check trans. fluid level & top off as required. ....

Below is a link to a "bucket/dipperstick/boom" diagram. This should help you to identify which hose and you can price the hose on the JDparts website. Your dealer should be able to give you a better price than what is on the website. ....
