I can't get this tractor to start. You may have seen my "glow plug" post but I think that is just part of my problem. You see, I put a new battery on and what happens is my starter just "clicks" when I put the key in the ignition to start it seems as if it is the solenoid switch. I can take a screwdriver and jump the solenoid switch and then it engages my starter. I do know the "old Ford cars" would just click when the solenoid switch was going bad. What do you guys think?
If you may think I am right that it is the solenoid switch, who sells them for this tractor?
P.S. I can pull it off and it cranks right up no problem but that is not good because I have to get my wife to pull me off.

Jchssr5,
You did a good job of troubleshooting the problem. You do have a bad start solenoid.
In most cases you'll find that "any old solenoid" will do ya. Just make sure you get one that's rated for the same voltage as your tractor.
The hardest chore is going to be finding a bracket that matches up with the mounting holes you already have. If this is a problem for you, you might be able to save the old mounting bracket and fasten it to the new solenoid.
If you can find any part numbers on your faulty part, it's pretty easy to do a cross reference using Google.
Hope that helps.
Joel

The biggest problem to me with a starter not cranking one is when it is bogged down and off. That can be a pain.
Years ago had a bad solenoid on an outboard engine and it was very costly. As I looked at it thought, sure looks like a Ford auto solenoid. Same for much lower price. ....
