The folding ROPS on my 7800 has developed a terrible rattle. Just started as the weather got cold, but it is really rattling back there. I checked all the obvious places and can't find anything loose. I can quiet the monster by grabbing the folding half, but not sure why it stops.

Anyone else have a similar problem, with a solution they can share. It's loud enough to be really annoying. Thanks

On my BX the rops will rattle if I don’t tighten the hand nuts at the pivot point. I don’t know if yours has these? ....

I seen how tightening up the pivot bolts so that the ROPS can barely be folded can reduce rattles and squeaking. Also, I am assuming that the clevis pins that lock the ROPS in position have rubber washers under them that also preload the snap pins? Not sure if your tractor is set up this way but many I have seen are. If you are needing rubber washers for your pins, standard garden hose washers can work nicely (depending on pin size, of course) and are for sure cheaper than the dealer would charge for the real thing. (Use the soft rubber kind, not the harder plastic ones.) It doesn't take much movement at all in any of the parts to make a lot of noise. ....

I have checked all the pivot assembly fasteners, it doesn't appear to be coming from there. It almost sounds like it is inside the ROPS. The pivot assembly stamping is about 1/2" wider than the bar, so tightening for no movement is impossible. I'll take another look to see if I can pinpoint where it's coming from. Keeps getting worse so something is coming loose. I guess when it falls off, the noise problem will go with it. ....

Maybe some rocks or marbles got dropped into the ROPS when it was folded. Curious kids? ....

Now you got me thinking about my Aux. Light brackets. Could be a mounting bolt came loose and fel into the ROPS. That is worth checking out. ....
